New here, diagnosed today. Hello
« on: August 09, 2016, 01:42:31 am »
Hi everyone. I found out today that I have hep c genotype 3. I was trying to get out of an abusive relationship. Had obtained a protection order. Was outside on break when the ex ran up to me and stabbed me with a dirty needle. Was terrified to get tested but needed to know after living with the anxiety these past few years. I have genotype 3. He did as well. Luckily no hiv. I have done some research. I will have questions

Epclusa seems to have the best results in treating GT3. 97% in clinical trials. Seems that this new combo drug is going to become the standard treatment and replace Harvoni for all types.

Gilead is selling it at 890 bucks a pill this time around so the insurance companies will most likely approve it quicker and with less hassle than getting treatment with Harvoni.

I hope you get treatment asap as it seems the type 3 progresses to fibrosis faster than type one or two.

All the best getting treated and cured.

Greetings,

I cannot imagine such a fiendish way of purposely harming another. I maintain the position that part of our struggle to defeat this Dragon is to be responsible when dealing with others that could potentially come in contact with us in a manner that could be infectious.

That said, at least if this had to happen to you, it did at a time when treatment options are incredible.
Stay with us and we will walk this path together towards the cure. Lot's of informed people here not to mention, caring.

Hi Redhead, keep your chin-up. I am in my 9th week taking harvoni. I am geno 1a. Week 4 was undetectable. So far so good. As far as that past relTionship. Don't Look Back. Move On. I feel your pain. Now go on to the next level in your life. Read the poem God's Design by Helen Steiner Rice. It is very uplifting

Hiya Fly,

May God richly Bless and Keep you. I assume you have 3 weeks left of Harvoni? Incredible DAA and we have been blessed to live today.

Thank you all. I just figured out how to reply LOL! August 25, my doctor said she ordered Epclusa. I haven't heard anything. Right now, my platelets are high, and my alt is 187 and ast 177. platelets are 263. everything else is normal except fatty liver. My doc said I don't have cirrhosis. Just got my boyfriend and daughter tested, they are all clear. YAY! Just have to work on getting me cured now. I really have no symptoms except some joint pain and fatigue and a weird headache once in awhile. I have gained weight around my stomach and am working on that. I have had to cut out Chocolate and let me tell you what, it's not funny!  ;D BUt I am trying to eat right but give myself a break on Saturdays to have some sugar. I've lost 7 pounds in the past couple of weeks. Anyway, it's really nice having some place to come to and meet new friends.

Fortunately it takes decades in most cases for hep c to cause liver damage. I have seen a stat of like 20% of patients will develop cirrhosis over 20 years time. I had hep c for 30 years before it turned into cirrhosis.

Fortunately today with the new meds for those like you recently infected they will never have to have that happen.

Good luck on treatment
