Going to try the new one
« on: September 22, 2016, 05:56:28 pm »
Hi all,
Here's my history:
Dx 2001
GT 3
Biopsy graded 3/4
Peg/riba 24 weeks fall 2001.
Undetected at EOT, relapse 1 ,on the post Tx
Peg/riba again 2005. Failed to achieve results and discontinued
Harvoni/riba 2013. Relapsed post 24 weeks. Esophageal bleed and TIPS sept 2013
Start epclusa/riba 10/10

So I hope this one works. Oddly, I feel pretty good for someone with Decompensated cirrhosis. My GI says I'm "recompensated", which doesn't exist, but I present clinically like a compensated patient. Fatigue is really my only symptom. No ascites, or really anything else.

So even if the epclusa works I will probably need another liver before all is said and done, but I would love to live a long life and die from old age rather than complications of HCV.

I didn't have any side effects from harvoni and don't expect any from epclusa, and didn't have anemia from ribavirin.

I really hope the previous TX doesn't inhibit the effectiveness of the epclusa, but the trials have a data hole regarding cirrhotic previously treated with non-interferon patients.

I'd love to hear from anyone else in my situation, with 3 previous treatment attempts and cirrhosis. Will keep the board updated as progress occurs.
Thanks
Mick

Hi Mick,
I am hoping that others in your situation chime in - I know they are out there. Just want to wish you the best and know that I am in your corner.

Thanks, Lucinda. I'm glad you are cured. Medical science is amazing, and I've been able to experience firsthand the course of this disease from discovery of the virus, (I remember when it was called "non-A, non-B"), through the really lousy experience of interferon, pegylation, and finally effective inhibitors.

Good luck Mick! I only had one treatment failure and have cirrhosis, but feel pretty good, all things considered. I'm pretty much off all diuretics, work full time and although I get tired, I always say I come by it honestly, as I'm very busy and pretty active.

I hope this works for you - stay in touch with everyone here. This forum can be very useful.
