Update: my broken ankle
« on: October 06, 2016, 01:36:32 pm »
Not really Hep C-related... Just wanted to let my Heplandia friends know the latest in my life. Things were going well at last. I received my one-year SVR in August. My godawful post-treatment malaise had finely vanished (although there was finally  a diagnosis that goes with it, so I am not totally out of the woods yet). I sold my mom's 3,000 sq ft house that was filled stem to stern with a lifetime of hoarded belongings, plus trash, plus rodent colonies - hell, whole civilizations. And that sale meant that my brother has at last moved over to his house on Gabriola Island. So a whole boatload of enormous stressful dysfunctional illness-producing family problems magically disappeared forever on Sept 10. Life was good - great even - for 3.5 weeks. And then...

Last night, while racing down my 3 back steps in flip flops and carrying a full compost bucket, as soon as I stepped onto my charming (so I thought) moss covered cement walkway, I slimed out on the moss. (Will be scraping that 'charming' crap off as soon as I get well.) I went down on my ankle, folding it apparently, and fracturing it quite nicely. I lay there in a great deal of pain and compost for about 30 minutes, trying to evaluate my options. Once I started to move, I realized I couldn't. So I started hollering, and a couple of kind neighbors came into my backyard right away and called 911. After an entertaining evening in hospital emergency (which I quickly filled with my fragrant eau de decomposing vegetables), I am now back home with a temporary splint, awaiting surgery tomorrow.

I live alone so this has all been quite an adventure. The kind cabbie who took me home last night at midnight stopped by a late night pharmacy and bought me a pair of crutches, then helped me in my house and set me up in a chair and made sure all my doors were locked before he left.

At least I'll have a chance to catch up on all those books I have been ordering recently and not had a chance to look at.

Gotta stay smiling because the other options are less fun. :)

Sending my best wishes and healing vibes to you also Kim. i like your attitude Kim! I'm a cry baby, but get back on top of it - only because I have to, as feeling sorry for myself gets boring! :) I broke a toe while anaemic on treatment and hollered as I thought it so unjust of fate to do that! Reading interesting books will keep your mind busy.

Peace and love,
Jazz
