Final Results are Finally in...
« on: November 13, 2016, 08:20:03 pm »
Hey everyone -

On Friday 11/11/16 I visited my doctor to get my final results. At the 4 week mark my viral load was in the mid 40's, and it started at 4.4 million. Well the results came back completely undetected! My doctor was expecting my viral load to be between 10-20. She gave me a huge hug after we looked at the results. I feel incredible. At my 6 month post treatment mark I will have a final viral load test done. As long as its negative then my status will be "history of Hep C" instead of "Chronic Hep C".

Feeling awesome  :D

"history of Hep C" instead of "Chronic Hep C".

Has a nice ring to it, may all of us state that someday soon.  Congrats Patrick!

Patrick you are one great and sensible young man! You and others like you are the reason why HCV treatment should be covered for everyone.
The words you spoke in your first post about how your mother screamed when you were first diagnosed with HCV blew me away! These words reach to the very core of why HCV should become a disease which is treated without hesitation by health care systems period. If the elected officials cannot see the reasons for this then they need to have a fire lit under their collective asses with the truth about how HCV was spread to the general populace in the first place.

It was blood transfusions during wars and after that did it beyond a shadow of a doubt. There is growing evidence that the disease spread is attributable to much more than just an artifact of illicit drug use and unsafe sexual practices, as some in power would have us believe.

Not that illicit drug use did not contribute greatly to the spread of the disease. The point is that the disease would not have spread without it first being spread in the general populace from a general source.

And as a good friend of mine who is a doctor has said of this disease "It matters not how one acquired the disease, what matters is that we care for all those who have it equally!"

All the best in having a long and joyful life free from HCV
Eric
