Those with symptoms....
« on: February 25, 2017, 10:34:05 am »
Okay, so this is my last question for the day (maybe)....I have been infected for 9 weeks and definitely am suffering from symptoms. I am hoping these symptoms are generating due to my body beginning to attack the virus, unfortunately in my last blood test the doc did not check for antibodies...which were not found at the the 8 week mark....anyway, my question is..has anyone who has had similar symptoms from HEP C (I know most people were not aware that they were infected this early on but Im hoping someone has experienced similar symptoms and can educate me)...Currently I wake up at night with night sweats (20-30% of the week)....I usually wake up with a very mild headache (25% of the week)....Fatigued, somehwat...but im normally tired for the past 8 years based on boredom (retired way too young, skin itching is a big one...(50% of the time, my face is itchy....)...Ive noticed today that my stool has become much lighter in color...kinda like the smiley faces above...sorry....Can someone tell me if they have had this experience? Can I expect them to get better or worse in the near future? Is there anything I can do to alleviate some or all....Sorry for all the questions.....but THANKS FOR ALL OF THE GUIDANCE AND HELP.....

Hi,

I did not have the same experience. I can tell when I got infected because, it must have been a few months later when I was really ill. It was like a very, very strong flu, the type I only ever got as a child. I remember being so weak I had to pace myself even when eating. Of course I had no idea at the time and it was only when I was diagnosed that I looked back and I understood what that was.

Here is a list of common hep c symptoms from

[broken link removed by moderator]

What are the Signs & Symptoms of Hepatitis C?

Most people (about 70% – 80%) with an acute Hepatitis C infection do not experience any symptoms or show signs of the infection.  If Hepatitis C symptoms do occur, they usually appear within two weeks to six months after being exposed to the Hepatitis C virus (HCV). If you do develop symptoms related to Hepatitis C, they’re generally mild and flu-like and may include:

Feeling very tired
Sore muscles
Joint pain
Fever
Nausea or poor appetite
Stomach pain
Itchy skin
Dark urine
A yellow discoloration of the skin and whites of the eyes, called jaundice.

As your test for HCV RNA by PCR came back with a viral load there is really no reason to have the hep c antibody test it is only used to screen for possible hep c infection. Your detected HCV RNA test confirms you do have hep c.

Hope this helps you out

Thanks folks for the responses...I guess I'd like to have seen the antibody test to know for sure that my body has started fighting this virus.

All, so I drove myself crazy all weekend worrying that I might be HIV positive as well as HCV (which has been conformed).....At 8 am prompt I called the blood bank for a second time and asked them to confirm that they definitely tested my body for HIV RNA in addition to the numerous other blood born viruses they had listed on the letter they sent me regarding the positive HCV RNA test result...They conformed that they would always continue the testing and check for co-infection...so a weekend wasted bringing on symptoms from anxiety!!!! They told me I am not HIV positive....Time to get healthy!

I think you can rule HIV out. Only reason to test would be for your own peace of mind but you have already recently tested negative.
