SVR12 Labs?

Hey guys, my official 12 week post Harvoni date is coming up on April the 3rd. My doctors nurse wants me to have my labs done on Friday the 31st so my doctor has time to review them before my appointment on the 7th. Will these labs still count for SVR12 even though they are being taken 3 days before the official 12 week mark?

Some people on these forums took the test a few days prior to the exact 12-weeks-after-eot date, and they were still considered officially cured. The odds of a relapse are so low that it's extremely unlikely to happen on day 82, 83,or 84 post-tx if it hasn't happened by day 81 when you'll be taking the test.

AFAIK, the causes of re-infection are the same as the causes of a first-time infection. If you're into getting body piercings, acupuncture, etc., make sure the provider uses the necessary hygienic precautions; stay away from any amateur situation such as IV drug scenarios.

A relapse, on the other hand, is when some HCV managed to hide out somewhere in the body not detected by a viral load blood test, and then that HCV replicates enough that it is again detectable in a blood test. The reason SVR12 is called a cure is that if there's no HCV detectable in a blood test that many weeks after treatment, it's a near certainty that there's no HCV hiding out somewhere in the body, because HCV replicates quickly.

Well said Gnatty there have also been some rare infections from poor medical practices. I recall news about an endoscopy center in Las Vegas that was drawing sedation medications from the same container to save money or something like that anyway people going to tjat center has to get tested for blood borne infection.

Also a very few incidents of medical techs stealing IV meds for their own use and substituting saline in the medicine container again causing a contamination.

Not to freak anyone out but might explain some of the people who have no idea how they were infected.

Hey fellow survivors!!!!!!  After 8-weeks of Harvoni treatment (beginning in October of 2016) - and what has seemed like a lifetime....my gastro doctor's office called and said my 12-week post treatment labs were UNDETECTED!!!!

I am overjoyed and just wanted to share my good news with everyone!!!

I finally had my 12 week labs taken this morning. It felt so good sitting in that chair after what felt like such a long wait. I will keep you guys updated on the results!

Did you ever before imagine enjoying getting pricked? A week max and you should have the result, with overwhelming odds that it'll indicate SVR12.
