27 months later - SVR12
« on: March 16, 2017, 12:02:22 am »
Hello to all -

I likely had the virus for 45 years.

It's been 27 months since I checked myself into the ER with acute abdominal pain  resulting from, what was considered at the time, as a simple liver cyst.

It's been 12 months since my liver resection and ablation treatment to remove a pair of tumors.  Pathology report confirmed stage 2 HCC

Along the way I failed 12 weeks of harvoni, was rejected for an Abbvie trail due to tumors, and after 3 appeals finally started 24 weeks of Viekira / Riba last July.

Finally, today I received results of my 12 week post tx labs and I am undetected for  the HepC virus. My doctor never gave up, always reassuring me that we'd end up here one day.  She often spoke as if we were in this together.  I believed in her and never lost hope. My liver cirrhosis is well compensated for now, and I have no sign of cancer at last check. All things considered, I'm feelin' pretty well.

I noticed many recent posts of SVR results.  Congrats to all of us who have successfully made this journey.  For those just starting, be strong, take care of yourself and most importantly remain positive.  I truly believe it can make a difference.

Thanks to all who share their stories and guidance here.  In particular, thanks to the moderators who stay here long after they are cured, as to help support the rest of us.

Regards,
Pete

It'll take a couple of days to let this sink in. I never really thought this would happen. Many of us will still face challenges regarding liver health after completing our treatment.  So I won't be disappearing anytime soon.  I'm hoping I can be of help from time to time, or at least add valued content here and there.

Thanks everyone!

Pete
