Just collecting a poll based on Gilead Canada released Harvoni monograph side effects.
Tendonitis in most people can be self-limiting and resolve itself. HCV itself, has been linked to joint problems. I'm curious to know how many, if any, have been diagnosed with calcified tendonitis, and or tendinosis who were otherwise without this condition prior to treatment.

-have had joint pains for decades (both before and after Harvoni) but they have always been presumed connected to autoimmune disease. Based on this page:
http://www.webmd.com/a-to-z-guides/tc/calcium-deposits-and-tendinitis-calcific-tendinitis-topic-overview
"calcific tendinitis" is unlikely to be what I have, so I have voted no.

D63, my sympathy if you are suffering from this particular joint problem.

Hi Lynn
Congrats on your cure.  Sorry for your current issue.  I am about to start Harvoni. " I think". Still waiting on pre-test results and waiting to hear from Doc.  I have noticed on a lot of the post that after 4 weeks a lot of folks are clear.  The ALT and AST are down to normal.  So why do they continue the meds sometimes for an additional 4 weeks or more sometime?  Just curious. Why they do that. Thanks for any input you can give me on this.  Thank You Very Much.
Again Congrats to You.
Wishing you Well.

While the virus is not detected at 4 weeks for many patients that does not mean the virus is gone it is only below the tests ability to detect its presence.

So treatment will continue for at least to the 8 week point or 12 weeks to ensure the virus is totally eridicated.

I treated with Sovaldi and Olysio for 12 weeks and was not detected at 4 weeks and at EOT (end of treatment) but when I was tested again 12 weeks after my treatment had ended I was back up to pre treatment viral load of 2.4 million.

So with that failure, plus my 3 prior failed treatments with interferon based treatment and the fact I have liver cirrhosis my last treatment was 24 weeks of Harvoni to which we added ribavirin part way in at week 9 so I took ribavirin for 15 weeks of my 24 weeks of Harvoni. This was to ensure my odds of finally curing my hep c.

Just like when you take an antibiotic and feel better in a few days you still need to finish your full course of meds.

Hi Lynn
Thank you for getting back to me so soon.  Again CONGRATS!  I appreciate the information you have shared.  I am still waiting to hear. I am really hoping not to have to use the riba.  I don't know why I just REALLY don't want to.  But again, I have just begun to wait. Dr. and insurance etc.  Just starting my journey.  I will keep you all posted. Thanks so much for the much needed info.  Wishing you health and happiness.

Hi Teneg! I'm glad you're getting started. I bet you're excited. Lynn K is right. They need you on it after undetectable "UD" to be sure the meds are getting anything still lurking, if there is anything. I'm guessing you're waiting on your VL- viral load count & perhaps what GT genotype you are? It's good to ask for copies of labs to take home. If you feel okay about it, post your stats on your profile too. It helps! Wishing you a smooth ride into tomorrow, Teneg  :)

Unless you are a multiple treatment failure with cirrhosis if you take Harvoni you won't have to take riba.

If you are given viekira Pak and have genotype 1a you would take ribavirin along with viekira Pak but that is the only reason I know of that someone without liver damage and not a multiple treatment failure would have to take riba

Good luck

Thanks D63 and Lynn.  The information is invaluable.  As I said in an earlier post. Still waiting on test results and to hear from Doc.  I know he was getting a viral load, RNA etc.  No word yet. That was last Friday. A week tomm.  So, I still don't know that info. But will share when I find out.  Again, thanks.
