Is HepC virus >11 still considered cured
« on: July 08, 2017, 09:42:05 am »
After 3 years I get a Hep C antibody test and it shows >11. Ive been undetectable up to now. Should I be worried? BTW the liver enzymes et cetera were good.
Please tell me your experiences am I in danger of relapse?  :'(

Hi amocuatli,

Does the test say 'reactive' or 'detected' or 'nonreactive' or 'nondetected' anywhere on it?

Also, what is the range for the '>11'?

It's hard to say based on a number alone.  What is your doctor's opinion?

An antibody test is not generally used to show if you have HCV; its used to show if youve ever been exposed.

"Positive results with an index of > 11.0 are accepted by CDC as having anti-HCV status with no need of confirmation"

https://www.rmlonline.com/site/sections/254

It does NOT mean you have HCV.

Yes, everyone who has cleared the virus will still have antibodies.

Best wishes on our RNA test! :)
