Got 1st clear blood results
« on: July 21, 2017, 02:58:56 pm »
I've been on zapatier , I'm in UK , 3 months of pills and was undetectable at week 4 , and after the 3 months I'm still undetectable , my biggest gripe with this and always has been giving it to someone else , I felt dirty when I found out I was Hep c positive, and to be honest I still do , I still freak when I see my blood worrying about infecting someone , has anyone else had these worries ??

Totally understand the feeling of worrying about infecting others. I used to work in a machine shop and got a fairly bad cut which was bleeding a lot. My coworker wanted to come over to help but I had to turn away to grab some paper towels to temporarily cover my injury and contain the bleeding. I am sure he thought it was odd I turned away from help when most would accept assistance.

Now if I get a cut of some kind I don't have to feel like Typhoid Mary every where I go.

Never really felt dirty just felt contagious and dangerous to people around me.

Thank you for the response , I have read much severe problems with this disease and I'm in a very lucky position now but these as my problems and help and advise on these however minor they may seem in comparison to others problems does help , I guess time will only help ease they worry of infecting others , I have bloods to be done in a few months for the 6 month check and can't wait get them , I guess I just don't feel much has changed , i wish it was something like a pain that when cured took your pain away so you could feel it inside , all my gripes aside this has potentially extended my life and grateful for the miracles in medicine , let's hope this drug extends it's reach to become readily available to more people as I know I'm lucky to get it where it come from , thanks

Congrats on beating the dragon! I had Hep C for a long time before treatment that failed and between treatments. Never felt dirty, just careful like Lynn. I remember marking my razor and telling my son never to use for shaving. We are lucky that science provided a cure.

It was my number one worry. It takes a while for some to truly feel sure that they are cured. I still catch myself in a tiny panic when I bleed, but then I remember that I am free and have nothing to transmit. Of all the benefits that I got from treatment, the one I am most grateful for is knowing my blood won't infect anyone else.

Perhaps another one or 2 more viral load test (say a year after), and hopefully you will trust the good news.
