Epclusa Newbie Jumping In!!
« on: September 23, 2017, 07:48:19 pm »
Hi all!  Just found this forum and have read the posts for the last few hours! So much good info here and love the support from the group. I start a Epclusa next Tuesday and am not nearly as anxious after reading about the side effects others had! I work full time and am single, so it is important I not miss any work! My pharmacist recommends taking the Epclusa when I wake up, so I don't experience sleeplessness at night. Is this what some of you have done? Should I take the medication with food? Thank you all for being here....feel like I have my own support group!!

Hi and welcome

Are you in WA state? I live in western WA.

Anyway I took Harvoni which is fairly similar. Many did experience what we called the Harvoni high an increase in energy so yes many did take early in the day. The most inmportamt thing is to try to find a time of day you can consistantly take your meds at the same time each day so maybe with breakfast. Taking with or without food has no effect on the medicine so whatever works best for you.  I like to take meds with food if I can.

Another suggestion is to try to drink the recommended amount of fluid every day the old 8 glasses of fluid. For some it seemed to help ward off the mild headaches some experience.

So best of luck and good luck

Thank you for your comments, Lynn! Yes, I am in Kirkland, WA. I need to get better about drinking that much water....I should have started "practicing" drinking 8 glasses a day sooner!  I pick my meds up and start on Tuesday morning. Excited to get rid of the Hep C, which I have apparently had since 1983, following transfusions after a car accident. Thank God my health insurance just switched to Kaiser this year and it is Kaiser's policy to run the test for Hep C on baby boomers at regular yearly exams!!  So here I go...my first step to healthier blood!! LOL

Hi from Auburn WA

Just remember it does not have to be just water which is why I said liquids. Even wet foods count like watermelon (ummm)

Drink up and cheers!

Hi Becky.

I'm jumping in too! About 8 hours from now. I didn't know my prescription was in, so I could have potentially started on Tuesday as well.

There is so much support and knowledge here, so we are both in good hands :)

Cheers,

Singin

Hi Singin !!  I've been wondering how your first two days on Epclusa have been going? I'm relatively comfortable after 3 pills! So excited I have no nausea or stomach issues, so I have done pretty well at work. I find I collapse on the couch as soon as I get home and also have some light-headedness!! But I can do this! 3 pills down....81 pills to go! Hope you are doing well!!

Hi Becky!

Wow! I'm so glad it is going well for you.  I started today since I had to go over a few things before starting. However, I'm going ahead and celebrating the occasion. May as well, right?

Let me know how it goes over the next few days! Curious to see if your symptoms are as minimal as mine! Good luck!
