Over two years of freedom
« on: November 09, 2017, 09:41:25 pm »
In 2013 I doubted that I would see another 4 years of decent existence. After having to quit work, having constant discomfort in my hepatic region, mild hepatic encephalopathy sometimes not being able to remember even simple things and stay focused, my life has turned around.
The pain around my liver especially when I ate is gone for the first time in over 12 years. My liver enzymes and all functions are spot on normal. ALT, AST, Bilirubin all normal for my age. The swelling around my liver is noticeably decreased.
Was using a DAA worth it? For me there is no question that it has improved my quality of life dramatically.
Most importantly I know that if some unforeseen accident exposes someone else directly to my blood it will not harm them! ;D

Congrats Eric! So great to hear your story!

I passed my 2nd hep c free re-birthday a couple of weeks ago myself. Great feeling to be rid of something most of us assumed we would have for life.

It's great to read your post Eric. I'm coming up to two years now and I struggled for some time over the first twelve months post-treatment with some immune issues and recovery from the anaemia but I'm now feeling pretty damn good, and so happy and grateful that we have all had this opportunity. How's the fishing?

Two years for me too. Had a slight hiccup with a scan (thought maybe it was cancer, MRI showed not), but apart from that, motoring onwards!

The fish are just fine at the moment, and I am no threat to them this time of year. I am far too lazy to get out a chain saw and cut a hole in the ice big enough to get in a decent fly cast! :o
