Finished Epclusa? Side effects gone?
« on: December 17, 2016, 09:23:16 am »
Hi everyone, next Saturday will be my last pill of Epclusa. I am wondering, for anyone who has finished this medication already, have all your side effects gone away immediately? I have suffered a lot with muscle aches and weakness while on this medication and I am anxious to feel normal again.
Also, anyone with genotype 3a who was cured by it? My viral load has been undetected since week 4, just praying it stays away after I am done with treatment. I started the meds with a viral load of 150,000.
Thank you!  :)

†In a study of 552 patients with genotype 3 Hep C, with or without prior Hep C treatment, and with or without cirrhosis, who received either EPCLUSA for 12 weeks or sofosbuvir + ribavirin for 24 weeks, 95% (264 out of 277) of patients who received EPCLUSA once daily for 12 weeks were cured. Cure rates for EPCLUSA ranged from 89% (with prior Hep C treatment and with cirrhosis) to 98% (without prior Hep C treatment and without cirrhosis).

Your initial viral load was very low

Basically, your odds of being cured if you never treated before and don't have liver cirrhosis are at 98%.

Texas Rose,
My side effects did disappear almost immediately.  I recovered from the medication pretty well The only thing that lingered was being thirsty and drinking more water than I usually would but that has slowly dissipated.  Best wishes.

@mw--are you on the Facebook Harvoni/epclusa support group. I'm terrified of starting to treat. I felt like I was on speed when I did riba/sovaldi. Only lasted 4 days on treatment. I'm so nervous to start epclusa at the end of January.

Janice,
No I'm not a part of that group but I will join if possible. I'll take a look at it. I understand your hesitation and anxiety about starting epclusa but I think you'll be fine. The riba is known to have awful sides. You don't have to worry about that this time. Some people have said their effects are terrible but most say it's minimal. It was very much tolerable for me. I still worked my management job 60 hpurs a week on treatment. I think you'll see epclusa is a better treatment. Best wishes!

I'm really glad it didn't ruin your life. It almost killed me, I have no nervous system no more, lost job and home, turned down disability. Not just me alot of our are still suffering, it's been 1 year later and I feel like I get worse everyday. Sometimes I wonder if Gilead puts people on here to lessen the scare to take it and make them think it's a breeze with no side effects. That crap is poison. I was better before I took it. If that sounds paranoid, well that should show you what kinda brain I have now, I hear music over and over everyday ,pain all over my body. And not just like regular getting a song stuck in your head, it's constant, plus ringing. Thought running  like 90 mile a hour in !y head. Had to be put on Xanax and it barely puts a dent in it. I had a good job before, a home, now I live in a sun room at my daughter's. ALL BECAUSE OF EPCLUSA! You better think twice or think about 10 more times before you think about taking this poison. You'll end up with 10 times more problems than you started with!

Skipp,
That's really terrible.  I'm sorry to hear about your experience.  I can assure you I'm in no way affiliated with Gilead or any other company. I'm just a regular person trying to help myself. I hope you find a resolution to all the bad things you are feeling. Happy holidays!
