Epclusa
« on: January 17, 2018, 07:19:54 pm »
I was under the impression that I was going to be treated using Harvoni and did a lot of research. Went to Dr. today and picked up my meds and I'm actually going to be using Epclusa (400mg sofosbuvir and 100mg velpatasvir). Any info on these well these meds work would be very helpful. Thanks in advance Jim
I'm Hepc type 2

https://www.fda.gov/NewsEvents/Newsroom/PressAnnouncements/ucm508915.htm

"The safety and efficacy of Epclusa for 12 weeks was evaluated in three Phase III clinical trials of 1,558 subjects without cirrhosis or with compensated cirrhosis (mild cirrhosis). Results demonstrated that 95–99 percent of patients who received Epclusa had no virus detected in the blood 12 weeks after finishing treatment, suggesting the patients’ infections had been cured."

See table 10 page 31 and table 11 page 32 which show 100% and 99% SVR respectively for genotype 2

Are you aware of the copay coupon for Epclusa?

https://www.epclusa.com/co-pay-coupon-registration?utm_source=google&utm_medium=cpc&utm_campaign=624265620&utm_term=%2Bepclusa&utm_content=28839024654&gclid=EAIaIQobChMIhe6vyvbg2AIVx1t-Ch1JKAp-EAAYASABEgLCdvD_BwE&gclsrc=aw.ds

ELIGIBLE PATIENTS MAY PAY NO MORE THAN $5 PER CO-PAY FOR EPCLUSA
We believe that cost should not be a barrier to receiving treatment. That’s why the makers of EPCLUSA offer a co-pay coupon. If you are eligible, you may pay no more than $5 per co-pay. Need a replacement coupon?

Please note the following:

You are not eligible if you are enrolled in a government healthcare prescription drug program such as Medicare Part D or Medicaid. This includes when you are in the Medicare Part D coverage gap known as the “donut hole.”

The EPCLUSA Co-pay Coupon Program will cover the out-of-pocket costs of your EPCLUSA prescriptions up to a maximum of 25% of the catalog price of a 12-week regimen of EPCLUSA. See Terms and Conditions below.

Hi, Jim.

Harvoni and Epclusa each contain two medicines, one of which is sofosbuvir (brand name Sovaldi), approved by the FDA on 12/06/2013. They differ only in the second drug: ledispasvir in Harvoni; velpatasvir in Epclusa. For your genotype, Epclusa is better: https://www.hcvguidelines.org/treatment-naive/gt2/no-cirrhosis

I hope this helps anyone who has Kaiser insurance.

Ok here is the info to get reimbursed of EPCLUSA from Kaiser. Call EPCLUSA # 855-769-7284 talk to a case manager to have coupon activated and mailed to you. DO NOT pickup perscription from Kaiser until after you have called and activated coupon. When you pickup meds and have the 9x11 hard copy of the receipt from release of medical information from Kaiser call 866-566-6446. They will help you through the procedures to fill out forms and mail it in to them. Rebate takes 4 to 6 weeks. It isn't as bad as it sounds lol. At least you will be reimbursed yay. I am on day 4 of treatment and so far so good no side effects at all. Thanks to all that helped.. Jim

Got results from blood tests, 4 weeks on meds. Viral load went from 5 million down to 600. It's a good start. I know the important test is the one 12 weeks after but trending in the right direction.
