Starting 24 weeks of Harvoni
« on: April 19, 2018, 04:34:42 pm »
Hi!

I just want to say hello and to let everyone here know how much I look forward to sharing information about our experiences with Hep C and Harvoni treatment. I received my drugs today and plan to start tomorrow morning. I'm a little nervous about possible side effects, however, I endured a few weeks of the earlier Interferon/Ribavirin treatment 10 years ago which was really awful.

I am type 1a and was recently diagnosed as having compensated cirrhosis, so I guess that's why I was prescribed the 24 weeks.

As a side note, I have lost over 60 pounds over the last 1.5 years with a correct (for me) diet. The weight gain I attribute to the treatment. It really zapped my energy, and all I did was sleep and eat crappy food.
Once I stopped, I was in a fog most of the time. I am a professional touring singer, so the extra weight was not a good thing for me personally, or professionally. Musicians have a LOT of downtime generally, so bad food on the road is abundant and easily accessible.

Anyway, I've turned all of that around finally! I'm fit and lean and ready to take on 6 months of whatever this Harvoni treatment throws at me.

Blessings to you all

Hi bluesdude and welcome!

I like you treated in the past with interferon and ribavirin actually 3 times not easy at all.

I treated with Harvoni for 24 weeks back in 2014 to 2015. I had cirrhosis for 7 years before this final treatment.

For many of us who experienced the old treatments treatment with Harvoni was a price of cake. I actually felt a little guilty at how easy a time I had I felt like I should suffer more for a cure. I hope that will be your experience as well.

Good luck!
