Epclusa from fixhepc?
« on: September 03, 2018, 03:07:24 pm »
Hello,

My mother (60 years old) was recently diagnosed with Hep C Gen 3 viral load around 100,000. Fibroscan 2.5.

The hepatologist prescribed 3 months Epclusa but the medication is no yet available in the public health system in Mexico. They say they have already requested the medication but don't know when it will be approved, it might be 6 months, 1 year, 2 years, they can't tell us a date. They say Harvoni took a little more than a year to get approved so Epclusa might arrive in about 6 months but they can't tell us for sure when.

So my mother wants to order Epclusa from fixhepc.com to start treatment as soon as possible. I'm worried about it being a generic and also about it getting damaged during shipping due to heat. We have up to 40 degrees celsius weather right now and I've seen most medications have labels indicating to store it under 25 degrees celsius.

Does anyone have any experience with Epclusa or other medications from fixhepc? What would you do, wait for Epclusa to be available or order from fixhepc?

Also I've read some threads/articles about people getting aggresive HCC a few months after getting treated with DAA such as Epclusa. Should I tell her that it's a possible, although unlikely, side effect? Would you have liked to know that before starting treatment?

Thanks to all.

If she has no or little liver damage she could afford to wait. Many people here did get meds from fix hep c with no problems I am aware of at least don’t recall any posts about that. Transient (brief) temperature excursions should not have much if any effect but I could see that as a concern. We have had problems shipping anything to our relatives in the DF getting “lost”.

The HCC link was initially a concern but has since been disproven. It was more of a concern for those who previously had liver cancer. But in any case, if your mother doesn’t have liver damage if F3 or F4 fibrosis score then it is not an issue.

Best of luck I hope Epclusa becomes available in Mexico sooner that later
