Anyone experience migraines with auras in Harvoni?
« on: October 10, 2018, 10:53:07 am »
I sometimes get auras followed by a migraine even when not taking Harvoni, but I’ve had them twice in the 5 days I’ve been on it, the migraines lasting a day or more each time. Was curious if anyone else had experienced this?

I have never experienced auras or a migraine. (I would like to experience auras! The migraine - not so much.) Others on Harvoni who had bad headaches said drinking lots of water would often go away. It seems to be a dehydration-related side effect for some people.

best to you,
kim

Yes!
I have suffered migraines with auras for several years. However since curing hep c 2.5 years ago I have not had one. Which leads me to believe that hep c was a factor.

Kimmy you don't want this kind of aura. These aura's are visual disturbances cause by an over active part of the brain associated with the optic nerve. Mine ranged from a flickering zig zag light to blind spots in one part of the eye.
Also difficulty with speech.. I've had all of those.

The migraine that follows can often incapacitate. Certain foods like aged cheese, lack of sleep, sulfer from wine and dried fruit are well documented triggers. Glare can trigger them.
My neurologist prescribed magnesium and selenium. Apparently most migraine and tension sufferer's are deficient in both.

There is an increased risk of ischemic stroke from those of us who suffer auras.

Best of luck to you!

Wow I’m happy to hear that yours went away after being cured! Maybe that will happen to me, too! Thanks for the response. I haven’t had any more migraines since my post, but had several within Harvoni starting. Had a few regular but small headaches since then, but compared to a migraine with auras, they’re nothing.

Doesn't sound like I would want those type of auras. Hope yours are gone and stay gone, robeson. good luck!
