Celebrities with Hepatitis C
« on: September 29, 2019, 01:49:09 am »
I've been looking at a few pages about celebrities with hepatitis c and it seems like none of them got it from sex. In fact I have yet to meet anyone with the condition that did not get it from needles. Yet people are calling hepatitis C a STD.

Lists of celebrities with STDs

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_people_with_hepatitis_C
https://www.webmd.com/hepatitis/ss/slideshow-famous-faces-with-hep-c
https://stdcarriers.com/famouspeople/celebrities-hepatitisc-3.aspx

After looking at this stuff I'm going to have to tell my buddy's girlfriend to chill the out. I really do not think she will get it from him. If that were the cases the internet would be full of hepatitis celebrity lawsuits just like it is full of herpes lawsuits.

Misinformed people think hep c is an STD.

The US CDC does not consider hep c to be an STD. There have been many members in the forum where one partner has hep c and the other does not even though they have been married for decades.

Per the CDC long term monogamous couples are at very low risk of transmission of hep c and does not suggest the need for them to use barrier protection ie condoms. There is a risk of sexual transmission for those with multiple sex partners, those who engage in rough sexual practices like BDSM and in the presence of HIV. People in those categories should practice safe sex methods.
