Today is the 1st official World Hepatitis Day!
« on: July 28, 2011, 09:14:26 am »
From the Hepatitis Foundation International:

The goal of World Hepatitis Day, July 28, is to increase awareness of viral hepatitis and the diseases that it causes. Viral hepatitis is a significant burden across the globe accounting for:

        130 million people chronically infected with hepatitis C;
        An estimated 2 billion people worldwide infected with hepatitis B;
        1.4 million cases of hepatitis A annually.

We all need to help spread the word. So many lives can be saved!

This is a good step but so much more is needed. No one is aware of the risks of hepatitis. It is going to cost this country a gazillion dollars as everyone starts to become symptomatic over the next decade. I know money is tight but we really need to step up here. It will save lives and money later.

Today's politicians only care about the next election. So unfortunate that we've created this mess of a system. I wish i had the answers.
