Amazing Meds
« on: March 31, 2014, 12:45:57 am »
Co-infected with Hiv/Hep C. My HiV is controlled with meds....

Recent infection (less than a year) with the Hep C and my Dr. recommended me for a trial of sovaldi and daclatasvir and after one week-----(how fortunate I am)

8,000,000  down to 200 hep C viral load and all my liver enzymes are back to normal. I have 11 more weeks of treatment, but expecting and hoping this will be a distant memory in my life.

There is hope and my fingers are crossed.

Update from week 4, lab messed up the results, irritating the Dr. and the drug companies, but results from week 6  is "virus not detected".

I am on 12 week, 2 pill a day treatment and will finish the end of May. Looking forward to this being in my past. Holding onto the hope of being SVR12 come August.

hey trebor, congrats on your good fortune. had hoped to share in it myself but the doc tells me today that since my hep c diagnosis is so new, he estimates 8 weeks due to rising numbers, that sovaldi is not available for cases of acute hep only chronic. us newbies have to stick with rib+ pg for the full 24 weeks.
happy those who suffer from chronic hep can take advantage of the new miracle treatment though.

Hi Bobby,
Sorry for the delay, just saw your posting. I understand. I had to wait near a year for this trial, to get past the acute stage (in hopes I would clear it myself). I have 6 days left of the treatment and never felt better and look forward to being this in my past. SVR 12 here I come.

Finished treatment yesterday-(12 week) and all came back from the last blood work as "virus not detected" and all my liver tests are normal and this has been true since the second week of treatment.
Now I just continue to live with a renewed vow for health and gratefulness for this amazing opportunity to be cured of this. I look forward to the future including being SVR 12.

Today was 12 weeks post treatment and went in for the blood work. My dr. says now the new normal is pushing towards, SVR 4. That being four weeks, post treatment and still virus free... then the dragon is forever gone.

I am never more confident, the beast, is in my past. My four week post treatment was clear and I expect the same for this test.

just want to keep this going a bit for anyone searching online who has just found out they have hep c and are freaking out...
you couldn't have gotten hep a better time...I was told I'd have to do the 24 week treatment of peg+rib even though I had been hearing about all these new treatments and had a great insurance plan to cover much of sovaldi. fortunately I live in a big city and found a clinical trial...sovaldi and rib...after 2 weeks I was undetectable for hep c. just took week 4 bloods and will get those results next week.
many docs don't know about the new standards of treatment. don't give up. keep looking. keep asking. as trebor stated when he started this thread - amazing meds indeed.

  After 2 weeks on tx:    Viral Load = 280     (From 12 million)
                                    AST = 20
                                    ALT = 17 !!!!!
  Thank you all for being here and helping me get through this. Gonna get there
