Ringing in the ears
« on: March 31, 2015, 01:25:02 pm »
Hi all
I was jus wondering if ringing in the ears is something that you all have experienced as well
I have had this on and off for a while now and yesterday it started up again.  I also feel bloated and kind of sore or "swollen" on my right side just under the rib cage.  I am not trying to put the blame on Hep C or cirrhosis for everything that I feel but was just wondering if this could be one of those common things among us.  I feel really crappy today and it is making me wonder
I am currently waiting for approval for Hervoni. I hope to know something this week
Thanks

I noticed my ears ringing about 10 years ago but I work in a machine shop and have had for years so I just attribute it to noise exposure over a life time of work and play

Hi Debula, WELCOME!

I have had tinnitus for about 10 years but had a horrible sinus infection and have been blaming that....however that was when I was diagnosed with hepC too.  Probably a coincidence.  I had total silence (first time in a decade) on day 3 & 4 of Harvoni treatment, and it was glorious...but it came back.   :-\  I miss the sound of silence but think I am stuck with this buzzing.  Some days worse than others.

I had brain fog, horrible fatigue and insomnia for years before treatment.  All have either gone away or are minimal now so hopefully your treatment will help you too.  Everyone experiences something a bit different.  I LOVE that I am sleeping and actually dreaming again.

Good luck and if you have time, check out the history on the Side Effect forum.  You can see what others have dealt with.  Lots of good information for you!

Thank you very much for your replies
I have been feeling soooo sooo tired for so many years now.
For the last 5 years I thought it had to do with my Thyroid problem and now I'm finding out that all of my crappy symptoms could be from the cirrhosis or Hep c
Just the idea of one day not feeling this bad is so exciting!!
The symptoms that have been bugging me the most are:
Fatigue
Severe Itching
Ringing in the ears
Weird fingernails that remain sharp no matter how short I clip or file them
(Really bad for my itchiness as I scratch and bleed :( and have yucky scars all over my body now :( )
Swollen ankles
Feeling bloated and pressure on my left side under my ribs

I have edema swelling in lower legs this is from cirrhosis. First reduce salt below 2000 mg or better 1200 mg a day. I also take a diuretic Spironolactone check with your doctor. The itching could be also from cirrhosis I think bilirubin levels.

Same for the tiredness cirrhosis and cirrhosis can even effect nail growth.

Good luck

Hi debula, my Gi told me my spleen was inflamed due to the cirrhosis causing the pain in my left side, and the itching can be helped by using coconut oil on the area affected
I also had swollen ankles,

Note.:    The best thing you can do for yourself is eat no salt, no sugar , low fat diet, until you can get thru treatment, this will help your current condition...
No red meat,    Google heart smart diet......

Your diet will help your symptoms more than anything right now...

I was going thru the Same things as you.... But did not have ringing ears...

Once the meds kick in and your immune response starts working you should be able to tolerate better...

I know how it feels, I have been there for a long time, but the worst is behind you!

You can make it!

Thank you for the encouraging post!
So weird that lately all I want to eat us junk too!  I must be in self sabotage mode or something.  :o
I will try to eat better.  I noticed that the swollen / pain-like feeling comes on stronger after I eat.  I guess that would make sense.

Ready to start this battle already!! Hopefully Monday will bring some news on the status of my Harvini approval
