Starting a trial of Sof/velpatasvir(gs-5816)/gs-9857!
« on: December 16, 2015, 10:43:18 am »
So I have been waiting for this trial for close to a year and it's finally happening! The trial will compare 8 weeks of sof/vel/gs9857 vs. 12 weeks of sof/vel amongst all genotypes. I am a 3a, but the phase 2 studies of these meds look great for everyone. It's an open label study with a study locations all over the world, I will know on day 1 which arm I will be in. I ho for screening on Mon the 21st. I have had no prior tx as insurance denied multiple times over the past year for sof/riba. I almost gave up and was just about to try and import the generics from China when university of Pennsylvania called about the trial. I feel truly blessed to have this chance, also nervous beings I've never done anything like this. But more then that I feel humbled knowing how many people need these meds and can't get them. I've been trying as of late to help educate others that insurance isn't the only way to get treatment anymore. I plan on starting a new thread when I actually start taking the meds in the "on tx" section to help give people an idea of how some of the newest drugs are working, and look forward to any advice I can get about being a trial participate from others who have already gone this route.
Much Love,
TK

Congrats TK! Sounds like a great trial for you. I was also 3a, and was cured earlier this year in a clinical trial of 12 wks Harvoni/ribavirin. That's great that you found a trial and are getting your drugs that way.

best,
kim :)

So I went in for the screening process today, and after 12 tubes of blood, an ekg, and a urine test, I was done. They should have all the results by the end of the week and if all goes well I should be starting tx by middle of next week!
