Am I reading that right? you had a virus count of 46 million?
Mine was only 1.2 million.
If so, you have become the spokesperson on how well Harvoni works.
As long as you don't have cirrhosis (parts of your liver that have turned into shoe leather) The liver can rebuild itself pretty quick with a good diet.
Like getting a self made liver transplant.

Not sure how to insert an image but I have it on scan. It was 46041982, now less than 15. No cirrhosis or scarring.

Hey GUG, my GI doctor explained to me that elevated ALT and AST numbers indicate liver inflammation.  So, I take it those numbers decreasing is good.
But, I'm curious if you were told the range for normal.  I get access to all my blood- work reports and they always show the range for normal, which is not a constant.  For example:  2010  ALT 60(17-63)  normal   AST 44(15-41) 12% High
                   2013  ALT 77(0-44)  75% H     AST 57(0-40)  43% High
I never see any ALT or AST posts with range or expressed as percentage.  I'm confused by these posts.  From above the ALT 60 normal would be 36% High with 2013 range.
I can't even muster a question for HCV results, just hope for UND, the rest confusing.

Hi Mike2,

I don't have any specialized knowledge, but I read that if the viral load is less than 15, that counts as cleared. That might not be the exact number, but I believe your result is going to count as successful clearance. Does anyone else know if that is correct?
Do you, or anyone else, know what would happen if they give you only 8 weeks and you relapse?

Hi Kauri,
Harvoni is really a walk in the park compared to your past treatments.
As far as my treatment is concerned my Nurse Practitioner is appealing the insurance company for the additional 4wks. Good luck to you and may you have an easy treatment.

My Chart shows ALT <78 and AST <35. So that is what I am shooting for.

@gug

great news...congratulations.

Mine was detected <12 @ 4 weeks. I'm just past week 5 now.
I'm calling me "cautiously optimistic" but my gut says it'll be just fine.

I wanted to provide an update of my progress.

The week 8 and 12 both came back as undetected. A Fibroscan was done and there is some fibrosis, between F1-2. My Hepatologist says this will heal itself as the HCV is not active.

I consider myself blessed being I started out with a VL of 46041982. So at this point this stuff clearly works.

Good to hear GUG, I asked my GI doc about another FibroScan and he wants to wait a year, said liver takes 1-3yrs to heal itself.
Your 46M VL is highest I've seen posted, but I talked to friend of friend who told me her count was up to 70M.
How lucky we are to have Harvoni become available to us.
