A Simple, Powerful Way to Make a Difference
« on: August 03, 2015, 02:58:17 pm »
Do you want to help raise awareness about hepatitis C, but are unsure how to do so? Tell your Hep Story. Hepmag.com has an easy to use format. You don't need to be a writer in order to tell it - you just need a computer, internet connection, willingness, and a story about viral hepatitis. Telling your story is a radical act. Our stories show the world that we have hearts, and souls, and faces. To read stories and share yours, go to http://www.hepmag.com/hep_stories.shtml

This is a great initiative, Lucinda. And very powerful indeed! I don't see the method though by which someone adds their story. Is there an online form to fill out? Or does someone email a Word doc to a moderator for uploading and posting? Are the stories edited? I.e., are the writer's words altered before being posted?

Congrats to all who have told their story so far.

best,
kim

Never mind. I see it now. It's that GIANT RED BOX that says "Click here to Share Your Story". Ha ha! ;) (Open your eyes, Kim)

cheers,

Another question… a number of the stories already up there include hyperlinked text that takes the reader to another website in a new window when clicked. How does one add that in the uploading process using the online submission form? By hand-coding the html for a hyperlink? Does the online submission form accept and recognize html?

thanks,
kim

I know - I hate that when things are hidden in plain view.

I am the contact for the stories, so when I get your story, I can contact you regarding hyperlinking. It would help me if you named the organization you want hyperlinked - add it anywhere in the story (such as the end, unless it makes sense to put it in the middle). When I get the downloaded text, I'll work with you.

I am delighted you are considering this. I wish I had every Forum members' stories.

Thanks Lucinda! It will be a little while before I submit. I am going to wait until I am cured and am ready to out myself. Probably near end of this year. But glad to know how to do it. I do plan to submit my story at some point.

best,
kim

Hello Lucinda,

This is a wonderful idea! Thanks for sharing the information and your willingness to handle yet another task to enlighten and support. I don't know how you do it! You should be Knighted or Sainted or something equally impressive!

Yes, all praise goes to Lucinda for this great initiative of getting people telling and sharing their Hep C stories on the special section of the website. I hope to be part of that at some point down the road. :)
