Insurance Approved!
« on: August 25, 2014, 09:42:25 pm »
Even though it's the Sol, Rib and Peg, I am still happy that insurance approved the meds with no BS. And it looks like I will only have to pay about $50 for the entire treatment! I can't wait to get started and get rid of this crap!

Will either start this Friday or next Friday... I'll keep you posted!

Got Meds in the mail today, and have my appointment in the morning so I can do my first shot at the Dr. office.

Thank goodness for the co-pay cards from Peg and Sovaldi! Without them, I would be paying about $390 a month for 3 months. With them I think it will be about $25 :D

Here we go!!!

Treatment so far has not been too bad. Started Friday and got my shot at the Dr. office around 9. Ran a few errands and was back home by 1, which is good because I got a little queasy and real tired. I attribute the tiredness to no energy drink or Adderall :-) Slept most of the day Fri and Sat - again no energy drink or Adderall. Sunday the rash showed up... just on 1 elbow... but is itches like crazy! Monday I felt really good and even cleaned and did laundry. Fully intended on going to work today... Then last night the insomnia hit. Holy He** I think it was after 5am before I actually got to sleep. Woke up at 8 to more rash and diarrhea. More nap time. Guess I'm making it a 5 day weekend :-)

I will say that so far, the side effects are not that bad. If I would have slept last night, I would have went to work. Not sure why the insomnia showed up.

I am wondering though, do the side effects increase the longer you are on the meds? Does the level of medicine in your body stay constant, or does it continue to build with each dose?

Try to get something for the rash ASAP. Here is the cool thing about that - if you use a mildly sedating antihistamine at night, it'll take care of the rash and insomnia. My doc prescribed hydroxyzine because benadryl makes me groggy. Some people do really well with benedryl. Anyway, I'd take a full one (low dose) at night, and a half in the daytime. It also helped reduce anxiety.

Yes, they generally do increase, which is why the rash should be taken care of now. Side effects that are managed early are much easier to get under control.

Thanks Lucinda. I actually took 2 Benadryl last night before bed and it helped with the itching, but did nothing for sleep. I have a very low dose of Xanax that I am going to try tonight. I will keep up with the cortisone cream and hopefully that will stop the rash from spreading. If those don't work, I see the doc again Friday.

In general, Xanax is fine with the combo you are on, but as a general rule, be sure to check for interactions before taking anything - drugs, herbs, etc http://www.hep-druginteractions.org/Default.aspx
