Need some feedback
« on: January 12, 2015, 02:06:41 pm »
On the 12 week SOL, INTERFERON and RIBI treatment and have 3 days left.
I feel miserable, it seems that the longer into the treatment the worse it gets.
After the next 3 days when this is over how long before I  start to feel normal again?
As far as my doctor I have lost all respect for him and when this is over I will never ever see him for anything. When he put me on these meds he told me nothing about any of the side effects. Everything I have learned about this was from these Forums.
I have had one appointment with him one day before my 8 wk. blood test. Common sense to me says my appointment should have been after the 8 wk blood test. His advise to me after I told him about all the symptoms I  was having  was Hang in there. I had the lab send me all my blood tests and when I asked about six of the blood tests being out of range he told me that was normal?
My 4wk and 8 wk blood tests both were not detected.
I can't wait for these 3 days to be  over but I will never agree to this treatment again.
Thanks for listening
PHIL

Hi Phil,

I can totally understand how frustrating this has been for you. I can't believe you handled it as well as you have without any support or help. That's insane and this doctor is a real jerk.

I don't know much about you or why your doctor chose that path for you but S/O has been available well over 12 weeks and Harvoni almost 12 weeks. It seems like there could have been choice with less sides than the one that was made. I'm not a doctor and don't know much but I haven't heard of anyone recently starting interferon.

I hope you stay undetected and are SVR24 at the end of this awful road you were put on but if you aren't i would find a new doctor who is more up to date on the options available. Sound like this guy is not up to speed, Dr's like this need to try this treatment for a few weeks and maybe they would change their attitude!

You are almost there, sending you a cyber hug and hopefully some of our fellow forum members who have been through the Interferon, RibV treatment can offer you some information on when you will start to feel better.

Hi,

I'm not sure but if I were you I'd take plenty of Vitamin C and other anti oxidants, Selenium, organic foods, plenty of protein and other things to help you overcome the meds.

Hi, Phil. I am about 2 days away from the last pills of Viekira and ribavirin treatment so I can sure relate to getting impatient to be finished with the meds! I don't know about other kinds of treatment except what I've read. It sucks to not have a good relationship with your doctor. Hopefully, the treatment  you are on will work for you. My suggestion is to drink plenty of water. I think it helps to sort of "wash out" those nasty meds. Let us know how you're doing.
genotype 1a
completed 12 weeks Viekira pak and ribavirin
final results due around the end of April
Undetected 12 weeks post treatment!
