Side effects of Sovaldi/Olysio
« on: January 17, 2015, 07:36:55 pm »
Hello!  This is my first time posting in the forum. I have HCV for 25 years, genotype 1a and have been on Sovaldi/Olysio for 6 days now, this is the inteferon/Riba free version, for which I am extremely grateful.  I don't have fibrosis.

I have some side effects including tiredness but then insomnia and brain fog a little dizziness and nausea.  These really took me by surprise because I expect nothing but the sun exposure effects.

My doc RX for the insomnia - it works but I was wondering if it might be better to take it at night? While these aren't horrible (and on the weekend so much more endurable than at work where I have to really focus) but I would rather not have the brain fog.  This AM I noticed that it was not there when I woke up but within an hour of taking meds all of the side effects were back.

I took a nap and miracles - side effects are way less.  So my thinking was, if I took the meds at night might this help with the foggy head, and would it increase the insomnia?  Thanks so much all of you wonderful people.  :)

  Hi Kathe
I was treated with the same combo and finished Thanksgiving. I tested N/D so far but I have the post treatment labs at the end of February. I was asked when I ate my largest meal of the day. Mine was supper and was told to take them after eating. I think it was to lessen side effects. I took my meds about 7pm every night and always ate first. I mostly had headaches, fatigue and brain fog. I really didn't have an insomnia problem. Water was key in avoiding my headaches. I am retired so that makes a big difference, I knew work would have been difficult for me.
I wish you good luck and hope you get the big reward after treatment.
