Losing my mind
« on: January 27, 2015, 01:20:09 pm »
I joined this group because I have 3 family members with hep c and get to some info About hepatitis.  Also about 10 years ago I had unprotected sex with and older female who later told me she had hep b and c. I found out approx 3 months after we had sex and went to my doctor and asked to be checked for std's they came back negative.  I was happy with that I'm not sure what tests he even did tho tbh.  So after researching and hearing some family members having hep c I went and asked to be tested for hepatitis specifically.  I am married 7 years now and only moved on because I ask to be tested docs say I don't have hepatitis.  I do have ruq pain and light brown stools color of peanutbutter from what I read pale or light stools can be hepatitis.  Can I be infected?  Can I ask for liver biopsy? I went and got all my results from my doc and asked to tested again.  Here are all my results since my exposure hbsag negative, hbsab positive, hb cor-tot negative.  Had this hep b panel done 4 times same results. 3 hep c ab tests all negative/non reactive.  Also 5 liver enzyme tests all normal levels.  I even had hep b virus dna qualitative pcr test which was non detected.  And I had hcv rna pcr, qualitative which was non detected.  The last set of tests were August of this year.  My doc looks at me like I'm crazy and so does my family.  I feel like I have symptoms and was exposed.  What else can I do

If you are testing negative for the viruses and your doctor has advised you that you are not infected then you are not infected. Perhaps you can ask you doctor about the symptoms you are experiencing rather than trying to self diagnose especially in light that it has been proven not to be the cause of any symptoms.

Just want to add the in general Hepatitis C in not considered to be a sexually transmitted virus

Another possibility have you considered getting counseling? You problems could be anxiety based, no harm in taking a look and that could be the root of your problems. Basically you want to find out the cause of your condition that could be a place to look

Good luck to you

Thx for response.  I was in therapy before i think I am going to go back.  I do have really bad anxiety.  I never had the ruq pain and light bowel moments until a little bit after my exposure. I just hope I got all the right tests.

Also hep c takes many years to develop symptoms such as clay colored stools usually not until extensive liver damage i.e. Cirrhosis have developed which in general takes decades to occur. Most with hep c have no symptoms for many years except increasing tiredness.

There are many potential causes of light colored stools for example large doses of Kaopecate Pepto-Bismol or other anti-diarheal drugs.

I wish you the best and hope you find a solution to your concerns

Peace to you
