Worrying about denial on meds?
« on: February 18, 2015, 11:39:21 am »
I was worried too, but got approved by BCBS for 12 weeks Harvoni (thank God) despite the fact I had no cirrhosis, normal Alt/Ast, and barely F1 fibroscan.  BCBS wanted me to do interferon) good grief - that's nuts! ... UNTIL my GI doc informed them I had a history of Clinical Depression. Now I would not recommend saying this unless it is true, and I COULD prove I had treatment for that.  But doc thinks this is what got me the meds.
I must add I was prepared to fight any denials with the suggestions made in this forum. I was also ready to take it to the media and informed my team of that. You have to advocate for yourselves and your loved ones, and not just roll over like insurance companies want you to.
Blessings to all.

Lovinglife, that is awesome news!!! So happy to hear you're able to get Harvoni! And for 12 weeks, way to go! Keep us posted, on how you're doing.  :)

Was it with Express Scripts/Acreedo? If you don't mind me asking - What is your co-pay?

I use Cura Sript and highly recommend them - very efficient and kind. My co-pay is 5.oo bc my doc arranged some kind of help for me. Am I blessed or not? Please feel free to ask any other questions. Take care.
