New here..1 week on Harvoni
« on: February 22, 2015, 12:44:07 am »
Hello everyone, I'm new here. I'm also 1 week in on a 12 week treatment of Harvoni. I'm trying to read up on what side effects I should watch out for. Should I stay away from certain foods, or drinks (non alcoholic of course) ie: grapefruit juice, orange juice?
So far I have had a bloody nose a few times but my doctor didn't say that was a side effect so not sure if it's related. My doctors didn't say to stay away from certain foods but I wanted you alls input.
Thanks for your time! Wishing everyone good health!!  :)

Hi, The side effects are fairly mild for being such a strong medication. I had some blood in my nose, dryness for several weeks, headaches the first few weeks, chills and feeling feverish at night. Nothing major. Now finished 2 weeks ago of a 12 week course. Labs all Within Normal Limits. Viral Load-Negative, undetectable. I would say just let yourself get enough rest, fiber and lots of water. It will be over before you know it! Best to you.

You said get enough rest, fiber and lots of water. Why the fiber? Does Harvoni cause constipation? I was told to get rest because it may make me sleepy and water for the headache side effect? I was never told about fiber though! As for the water, I'm on a fluid restriction due to my heart issues (unrelated to Hep C).

Hi, I normally drink tons of water but when I started the Harvoni it seemed to be a little bit constipating. I'm usually regular. It may not be the same for everyone.
