Sugar Inflammation and Fibrosis Progression
« on: March 08, 2015, 01:34:32 pm »
Sugar can inflame the liver and lead to a faster fibrosis progression.  And don't forget that white bread converts to it, too.

This was part of a discussion in the alcohol thread, but deserves top billing.

Wow, it's interesting how much our knowledge has changed in recent years. My first Hep C Dr, who had Hep C himself, told me to suck on hard candies because the sugar would help my liver.

While people believe in juicing I saw a show that contradicts that juicing is good for you. When you turn fruits into their liquid form the sugars are processed too quickly in the liver and the excess sugars are turned into fat and not what the body needs from the natural sugars. It is better to eat the fruit/vegetable whole because the fibers slow the processing down in the liver preventing turning the sugars turning into fats. I know it is counter intuitive that fruit juice is bad for you. I used to juice but now I eat the whole fruits/vegetables instead.

These are all great tips. Have to admit that since I started Harvoni my appetite has increased and my sweet tooth went into overdrive. Trying to manage that.

So I was out the other day, and desired to get a donut from this crazy donut place. I got two, because they just looked so good. The most sugarie things I have eaten, I think, ever!
Later on, I'm certain, I felt my liver swell up! I felt a little nausious, and felt like I really should not have eaten them.  Then the next morning, my head felt strange, and there was a ringing in my ears like I was experiencing a hangover.
I'm not going there again!

You poor thing!

That's so something I would do-warn others against it, do it myself, and make myself sick LMAO
