2 weeks in- Lab Results
« on: March 23, 2015, 10:44:10 pm »
Hello everyone - I just finished my 2nd week of Harvoni and received my first lab results today.  CBC and Metabolic Panels results were all within normal range.

All my liver enzymes dropped (remarkably) well into normal range. These numbers have always been high ever since diagnosis in 2004.  All other LFT's were normal.  No change there.

Starting in 2 weeks, I'm to have V/L checked at 4 week intervals until the end of the 12 weeks.  Followed up with 1, 3, & 6 month V/L testing. Seems to be the SOP everyone else is reporting.

I'm a 62 yo male, 1a with compensated cirrhosis.  I have never been treated until now. As a result of no treatment past, I was approved for only 12 weeks. I believe those are the guidelines from Gilead.  Albeit I wish I have gotten for 24 weeks considering my liver condition. I suppose it's too early to know if the cirrhosis will impede a SVR.  But it does weigh on my thoughts.

No side effects to report at all.  In fact, I feel better than I have in 10 years, in just 2 weeks!  While I had no real expectations of a cure 2 weeks ago, I'm feeling "cautiously" optimistic about this now.  While at the same time realizing I can't get my hopes up to high.  Can't wait for my V/L in 2 weeks.  I so want to be rid of this hideous virus.

God bless,

Pete

I'm about to start my second month on Harvoni and just received the results from my 2 week blood work from my liver doc. " your blood looks great and the virus is undetectable".. "Continue with treatment"
Mindblowing!!!!!! I feel no different physically. No better and no worse.
Emotionally different for sure.
Still no discernible side effects.

Good luck everyone.

Hey Pete, we are similar in rx and liver condition and duration, I think you are correct, I think 24 weeks would be better just to make dang sure we kill this thing!

Good news be flat , that's awesome!

I get my 2 weeks results this Friday, and finish week 4 this week.

Praise God!  I had a good day a work today, more energy to do what I need to do...

Hi Pete and welcome

Per both the AASLD Recommendations for Testing, Managing, and Treating Hep c and the Prescribing information sheet for Harvoni

http://www.gilead.com/~/media/Files/pdfs/medicines/liver-disease/harvoni/harvoni_pi.pdf

The Recommended Treatment Duration for HARVONI in Patients with CHC Genotype 1

Treatment-naïve with or without cirrhosis is 12 weeks

see table 1 sheet 2

The results have been great in that treatment group with SVR 12 of 96% (208/216) with 1% relapse (3/216) and 2% lost to follow up (5/216) From the ION-3 study (see page 23)

You will be fine

Congrats on getting and starting treatment

Pete, we are pretty much the same.  I'm 62, geno 1a, some cirrhosis, etc.. I relapsed last year on a 12 week course of Solvadi/Olysio.  I was SVR at 4 weeks and 12 but two months later the viral load was back where it was before treatment.  I just started my 5th week of a 24 week course of therapy on Harvoni.  I am currently waiting on my 4 week test results.

Hi Chino

Same here treated March to June 12 weeks Sov Oly and relapsed 12 weeks post. You can see below I have had cirrhosis for over 7 years and was a null responder to a couple of treatments with interferon Ribavirin.

I just finished week 18 of Harvoni my doctor decided to add Ribavirin at by the time I got it from express scripts 9 week into treatment so I just finished 9 of Riba with about 5 weeks and 5 days to go not that I am counting lol :)

Good luck on treatment hope we all beat the dragon
