Harvoni: What time did you pick...*?
« on: May 11, 2015, 10:03:04 am »
Decided to start a new topic, there may be others with the same question, as they get approved for Harvoni.

* To those of you taking or have taken Harvoni -
What time of day works/worked best for you? AM, Midday or PM, and why? (With or without food.) If you have any other suggestion(s), please include them with your post. Thank you for your invaluable input and opinions!

This forum continues to be the best place to get informed, knowledgeable, first-hand answers from those sharing their personal experience!

Thank you one & all for your words of wisdom (& rants), throughout the Hep Forum!  :)

Blessings,
MG

(I was approved for Harvoni last week, I don't have the medicine, yet. I suspect I'll hear sometime this week - when I should be receiving it. So, I'm trying to figure out the pros & cons to taking it at certain time of day.)

Hi MG
Originally I took mine at 5 PM just in case I hade any side effects (I would be home and sleep through them)
But I noticed I couldn't sleep well at night so after a few days I switched and I take it at 8:00 AM now
I get to work about 6:00 AM and have an alarm set and take it every day at 8:00 AM
I don't have any sides so this seems to work for me

Am excited for you!

I take my pill between 10:15 A M and 10:45 A M I get home from the gym and it's the first think I do when I walk in the door. I always remember has become part of a routine. Weekend are a little harder to remember but I do. I'm hoping I kick this disease.   Deb

I am on Day 12 of 12 weeks of Harvoni+Ribavirin (via clinical trial). Am taking my Harvoni & first 3 Riba at 9:00 am with small amount of food (I think the food is for the Riba), and taking my second dose of Riba at 5 pm.

Harvoni+Riba together in the morning is what nurse recommended. I am glad to be doing the Harvoni in the morning because I get a noticeable energy boost from the Harvoni that lasts 4-5 hours and can be very productive for me if I use the time wisely.

(My evening dose of Riba was causing big insomnia until I moved it up to 5pm at nurse's recommendation, and that problem went away.)

So far my sides have been minimal and easily manageable.

Good luck to you morning glory, and to all on this path. :)

I'm on day 39 of 12 week Harvoni tx.i decided to take it at 8a.m.since breakfast is routine around that time(more for my kids than myself),and because I wanted to be alert and awake to take note of any side effects experienced. At first I took it with food, but as time went on I stopped paying attention to anything other than being sure to swallow the pill between 8:03a.m.8:10a.m...with or without food hasn't made a difference.im happy to say that now it's equivocal to taking a B-12 vitamin as far as how it makes me feel physically.my 4 week viral load came back undetected.rapid virologic response is what the dr referred to it as.im hopeful, grateful,& anxious to see how this pans out for myself and everyone else post tx....

Started my adventure on 5/16/15 for 8 weeks. I decided to take it @ 11am.

When school gets out for the summer, I didn't want to have to get up early to take it. Not that I'll be sleeping until 11am, though. Just figured if I should get fatigued in the afternoon, it would hopefully hold off until I get dinner made. (I have only taken it for 3 days, today will be day 4)

Jiff - Congratulations on your VL coming back - UNDETECTED!  :D

Praying for all!

Blessings,
MG
