4 weeks completed today on Harvoni
« on: May 28, 2015, 08:58:11 am »
Well,I'm 4 weeks in of 12. The treatment has been a breeze,no serious side fx,except one day about 10 days in had a bout with vertigo(about 6 hrs) I'm very happy I've gained 6 lbs! I'm eating like crazy now! Do I call my doc about blood work at 4 weeks or do they usually set that up? I keep seeing people have tests at 4 weeks? My urine has been nice and clear, that's a big improvement,my right side hasn't been sore or tender(liver area) I'm impressed my meds get overnighted to me from Florida to Maryland! If anyone needs help with copays, try Patient Access Network...those wonderful folks covered my $ 900 copay due to my income,I'm on SS disabilty. I still have "the itch" mostly my back,it has eased up slightly,I'm really hoping THAT ends,it's been torture for a few years now,a sign of cirrosis as I've read. I wish everyone success in their treatments,I'm counting down the days on my calendar every day I take my Harvoni....8 more weeks

Congrats on your 4 weeks! You can do this!

I am on day 3, looking forward to my pill tonight. My end date should be July 21. I can't wait. No sides YET, but as long as things work I will be happy.

Hey Bassman,

My hepa doc said, "everyone goes undetected while treating with Harvoni. The only test that matters is EOT12." So, consequently, I have not had one blood draw since beginning treatment on 3/28/15. I didn't question it and I'm just going to ride it out.

Some people get really hungry on treatment and I'm in that boat. But, since I have kidney disease with high blood pressure, I can't just raid the refrigerator. I'm on a low sodium/low potassium diet and I've lost 28 pounds since January 2015. A lot of that is muscle, unfortunately.

Good luck with the rest of your treatment, and hopefully, SVR.

Sabre,

With all due respect to your doctor, that is a load of crap; several of us never reached UND while on or at the EOT marker, but did go on to achieve SVR4 and SVR12. It's as inaccurate as saying, 'Everyone on Harvoni gets cured'.. Most do, but not 'everyone'..   But I do agree with him that the biggie of modern day treatment testing is the  SVR12 one.

Dragonslayer,

I don't disagree with your comment at all. I didn't push back only because of the EOT12 qualifier for SVR.

He made a comment back in 2008 when trying to get me on Interferon to the effect of "don't read what other people say about side effects...they're not that bad." I walked away from that visit with a very bad feeling having schooled myself on the SOC at the time and the suffering of those who had to endure it.

Take care.

In terms of long-term effects of Harvoni, I think we're all guinea pigs, to a certain degree.

Perhaps you've seen this document:

Section 13 may be of particular interest to you.
