Please help ! Am I at risk?
« on: June 22, 2015, 11:52:15 pm »
Recently i had a sexual encounter with someone with an unknown status .

I was on the RECEIVING end of rim job. Is it easy to trasmit hepititis a/b/c to the person on the receiving end? I am unaware of she had any cuts in her mouth. How likely is it that I would contract hepatitis a-b or c IF she was infected .

I had hep b shots when I was younger , although they were years apart. I've been reading you need 3

I had 1 in 2001 another in 2004 and the third in 2006.

Are they considered invalid since they are years apart?

I am literally sick and full of anxiety/ stress.

All of you experts out there please help.

Thank you.

For an expert opinion please ask your doctor. Most here are not medical professionals just people dealing with living with hepatitis and liver disease. This is a support community we cannot offer diagnosis or medical opinion.

However based on the encounter you described in my mind as a non medical person I would expect you are at no risk.

Hep B and C are both Blood borne viruses which require the blood on an infected person to enter your blood stream. Hep C is not generally considered to be an STD

Are you pretty familiar with how it's contracted and what is considered high risk? I'm just very worried. Thank you for any information

Hep c states it's possible through sexual contact but chances are low.

Yes that is correct and they are speaking about intercourse. Chances through kissing is not a risk. Kissing is physically similar to what you have described oral anal so I would assume the risk for hep c would be similar.

But again your number one best choice for medical information in your doctor not a chat room

Help Lynn,

Sorry to be a bug, but even if there were small traces of blood in her mouth you don't think it was trasmitted ? ( based on your knowledge .

I will be seeing a dr next week

not  unless the blood was forced through an open wound on your body into your blood stream.

Hep c requires blood to blood contact to be transmitted

I'm not familiar with this so it may be a dumb question

Blood can't enter the blood stream through the anus ?

No it cannot unless you have an open wound. This is just another skin covered area internally as well

Ok  and I'm sure I would've felt if I had an open wound.

Thank you so much Lynn. You don't know how much your information has helped me calm my nerves and anxiety/ stress

You may want to consider talking to a counselor for your stress issued especially when you are very worried about things that are very unlikely to occur.

Even in the worst case if you somehow ever did get hep c there are new drugs available to treat hep c with very high rates of cure so either way you have nothing to worry about.

Good luck

Thank you Lynn.

I am not even sure if I was actually exposed to it. (Not sure if she had it) and based on the information you provided, the chances of me contracting it are very slim. I'm still going to visit a dr next week to test and consult.

From what you're saying you'd say I need to see a dr to talk to and ease my stress/ anxiety rather than see a dr to see if I contracted hep c

I believe your stress and anxiety may be a greater health concern than worrying about low risk of infection of highly curable illness.

And also if having relations with people you don't know vey well if you use safe sex practices like barrier protection which is more than just condoms for example dental dams or even a cut up condom would prevent any contact and thus one less source of needless worry.

Ask your doctor for their thoughts and recommendations and practice safe sex

Good luck
