5years of hep C genotype 3 progressed to cirrhosis
« on: July 17, 2015, 08:51:41 am »
anyone know why this happens with certain genotypes..In fact i asked my doc about it and she kept insisting i had the hep c for 20+ years and i know i did not. I have bloodtests that stated i did not have it in 2009.. but got it from IV use in a 2 month period in 2010.
So basically she is like at a WOW factor that it got this bad that quick when i dont drink, didnt use illicit drugs but for a 5 month period and only meds i take is daily oral methadone for 5 years which she says is NOT a factor if hardly at all.
Is it genotypes ? just curious if anyone else had fast progression like this too!

Genotype 3 is now known to progress faster than the other genotypes - or at least it can. It won't in all cases.

It does seem unlikely that it would have gone from F0 to F4 in just 5 years. Is it possible your liver was already significantly damaged prior to contracting Hep C 5 years ago? A liver can be very damaged - sometimes even to cirrhosis - without a person realizing they have a liver problem. So perhaps you were close to that state when you contracted Hep C in 2010?

Good luck, Will I ! Getting treatment to eradicate the virus from your body is the important thing right now. A great deal of the fibrosis will improve and even reverse once the virus is gone. There is even evidence showing cirrhosis will lessen.

ty.. well ive gotten a few tests of late like a pelvic scan where they shot dye in me. This was right before i started my hep c treatment like a year ago. also had a few ultrasounds which all say that the valves and main tubes in my liver are all good and my liver is normal in size NO INFLAMMATION. all the tests revealed the same that mild fatty infiltraition of the liver with some echocentricity or wahtever. when my hep c was very active at 6mill viral load
Im a 4th month of treatment and hep c is non active right now 2 months left..but like i said the hcv fibrosures my insurance made me get said F4 and high F3 the second one.

TY for reply i hope ill be ok. no drinking or drugs at all and im watching diet too.
