HCV Genotypes
« on: July 29, 2015, 11:30:52 am »
As of now, there have been 7 hepatitis C genotypes identified, and each have a 30-35% difference in their genetic makeup. This viral diversity is what makes it so difficult to develop one drug to treat all the different types of hep C—as well as a therapeutic or protective vaccine for HCV.

Click here for an overview of each genotype, 1-7, including each type’s prevalence overall, regional/cultural differences in their proliferation across the globe, as well as how easy each variation of hep C is to treat, relative to other strains of the virus.
