Started Harvoni today
« on: September 14, 2015, 09:01:03 pm »
FedEx delivered the first months bottle of Harvoni to my office today.  I am officially 3 1/2 hours into treatment and happy to know this virus is taking a beating.

Tomorrow I'll be starting the regime of meds after breakfast followed by lots of water during the day.

Thanks to everyone who has posted about their experiences so far; it was a help in obtaining treatment a it is proving a path and encouragement for the next 90 days.

I am a very grateful and happy fellow.  Namaste

Hi and congrats on getting Harvoni! My husband has been on it for 3 weeks and it's been great! He has more energy, I can't believe it. His experience with old treatments was so horrid I didn't have much hope. Do drink as much water as you can, it seems to make a difference.

Hi Kim, Feeling any better?

Thanks for asking, Tommy. I could drive to the grocery store today, which seemed like a big victory! haha And I am cooking a beef stew at the moment - made from scratch in less than 10 minutes since I cannot stand for longer than that. So yes, today is better! :) I think if I can get proper food going back down the old gullet, that will be my way out of this thing.

Shelton , Two weeks in & still going strong? No problems or sides? Sounds like You might get a ride on the crazy train in the club car! LOL. Hoping it stays that way for You! Would not wish My first 4-5 weeks of Rx. on Man nor Beast!
Kim, Baby steps My Dear , baby steps.  The stew idea sounds good, Hope You got the old Gullet filled up. Sound like You could use all the nourishment You can get right now. Celebrate the small Victories as they are Victories non the less.
Tom1952 , I was just rereading & catching up on posts. I was wonder what kind of FedEx shipping & whether  Your Meds. were cool packed as they are temperature sensitive. I know down here on the Third Coast it's been so hot that I would worry.

;)Hi Tom1952 & Else!!!!! So so happy for you both! I hope in a few days you feel as good as most of us...the slaying has begun! I found that these posts are another great medicine ...for the new people & the wise professors & us on the journey just a few days ahead of you.My husband is amazed at how much I do everyday...I think I scared the crap out of him before starting! Today is 14 day labs for me! Very exciting as I mark everyday with a big X ! I guess I could be a worry machine till next week results but I choose to believe  Harvoni has been working hard to kill the virus & my numbers will be awesome!!! Stay strong!

Thanks Rosie.  Day Four down the hatch and this seems to be shaping up to be a cakewalk.  Not a side-effect to be noticed.  And sleeping better than I have in many, many months, though I attribute that to the battle for meds being over.  Wow, I really let that get to me in a big way.  Now I'm snoozing like a baby.  :)

I have noticed, about an hour after I take a pill, I feel a bit... odd.  Yep.  That's the only word I can come up with.  Maybe just a smidge loopy?  But just slightly and it borders on pleasant.

Have I won the Lotto or what that my only "side-effect" may be mild Harvoni euphoria?   ;D  That cracks me up.

I know exactly what you are describing! Very strange indeed! I get busy with my pets in the a.m. then sit down at noon for about 1 hour & feel weird.I picture Harvoni killing the virus & then the energy surge comes & I get busy again. The mental anguish before approval was much harder than the tx.....so far!We are truly blessed!

Have just completed day 6 of treatment and happy to say no real problems.  A little trouble sleeping a couple of nights but that could also just be excitement related to being in treatment.

I take the pill in the morning and drink lots of water during the day.  I haven't recorded it but probably close to 100OZ or 9 to 10 bottles.

I have already noticed an increase in energy and clarity of thought - still far from normal but truly an improvement.  It may just be my imagination and if so that's ok too.

At 63, for the first time in while, I am cautiously optimistic about the future.

That's excellent news, Tom! Glad to hear it is going so well for you. I too noticed a definite increase in energy and mental clarity by about Day 5. And really, it's not surprising. Most of the virus is eliminated within the first 7 days (!!) when Harvoni is involved.

May the rest of your voyage go as well,
kim :)

I just started day 24 of Harvoni.
So far the side effects are minimal - just some insomnia and thats something I have had problems with for ever.
Brain fog gone (I think ha ha).
Physical energy level much improved. Not 100% but can get through most of a day without feeling beat. I'm walking 2 miles a day and then a small workout.
No problem with appetite. No nausea.
Feeling very grateful and blessed.
Best wishes to all of you for an easy and successful treatment.

I haven't missed any days of meds, but I have missed a couple of days in my record keeping.  I just counted pills and I have 2 of 28 left so its been 26 days.  Even better.

Hope you are doing all right and without the bad side affects.

Apparently I'm a tad obsessed with record-keeping - both my own and other people's! LOL  You're welcome.  :)

No sides that I'd attribute to Harvoni.  Quite a few from a common cold that is just relentless.  But my healthy 15yr old son has had it longer than I have so it's no mystery or source of worry.  But man, is it getting old.

Had to walk out of a hardware store empty-handed yesterday.  :-[  I had about 1/2 my list but was feeling spacey as all get out.  Almost dizzy.  Felt a trickle on my cheek, wiped it away and realized my face was drenched with sweat.  Looked down and had sweat soaking my shirt liked I'd been on a run in mid-summer (not that I do that kind of thing).

Ah-ha!, says I.  I'm really sick - that's why I feel so odd.  I'm starting to think this more flu than cold but one thing it is for sure is booooooor-ing!

Apparently I'm a tad obsessed with record-keeping - both my own and other people's! LOL  You're welcome.  :)

I've been getting so busy getting back into life that HepC is not always at the forefront of my thoughts - and that is a nice nice feeling. Being able to think again is the thing I am most constantly aware of.

Hope that is short lived bug you have and you get back to Post HepC normal quick.

I'm waiting until week 6 to get the next set of lab work. The treatment seems to be working and I want the first test result to be a good one.

Best to you.
Tom
