HCV w/cirr and peripheral neuropathy, anemic ANYONE ELSE?
« on: October 07, 2015, 01:11:45 am »
Hey there.  I just reluctantly started treatment Sovaldi + Riba because I was already going through nerve pain, agonizing confusion and concentration, depression plus I was anemic.  So now I am in week 3 and the confusion with concentration and depression have just hyped up two-fold.  Extremely tired to point of falling to sleep throughout the day.  and my feet are on fire!  Anyone going through similar situation.  I don't know if I am going insane, but I feel like I am on another planet.
Dazed and confused
is just a temporary setback  :)

Hi, perioneuro,
So SO SOOO many people in these forums with info on hcv related peripheral neuropathy. This one's a bit thick in medical jargon, but very informative...

or,

Unlike you, I've had the symptoms pre-treatment and was sleeping on a bag of ice every night (making it worse because it intensifies with cold!) Ce la vie...

Many of us are waiting for post tx to see if these go away naturally or if we'll need to have another go at fixing our hcv hop ons...

Hope that helps :)

Hi Perineuro. And welcome to the forums.

Re: your anemia - I became anemic during my 12 weeks of Harvoni+ribavirin. And then when I was post-treatment, my hemoglobin was not coming back up at all. So I went to my doctor and found out I was also deficient (or very low) in iron, B-12, and Vitamin D. Those deficiencies were not caused by the ribavirin. I went into treatment with those deficiencies and had probably had them a long time. But they were preventing me from pulling out of the riba-anemia after treatment ended. I am now taking daily supplements for iron, B-12, and D, as well as B-complex and C. And I feel much better. The anemia is clearing up.

Have you had your iron and B-12 levels checked recently?

Good luck!

kim :)
