Harvoni: The Good, The Bad and the Unbelievable
« on: October 21, 2015, 01:51:42 am »
It's too late at night for me to be starting a thread, so I'll be brief for once.   :)

The bad?  2 or 3 minor morning headaches cured with a good 8oz. guzzle of water.  Oh, and it doesn't prevent nor cure the common cold.  Boo-hoo.  ;)

The good?  Joint pain gone, chronic fatigue gone, brain fog gone.  Peripheral neuropathy no longer progressing - good enuf.  It may reverse yet.

The unbelievable?  Per my 4wk labs "HCV Not Detected".

Just wow.  I'm stunned.

Much love, all my forum friends.  :)  Now back to mowing my lawn.  My teenage son is getting such a pass from all my new energy.  8)  I used to enjoy mowing the lawn ('cause I'm just a party animal that way!  :o) but I haven't had the oomph to do it in years.  Yay!

Next up, cleaning the points on my leaf blower.  It's the little things...  :)

Am I missing a new rule posting, Beto?  The one I just read looks like it was pinned on the first of February.

Just some general feedback regarding the wording - "a temporary ban from the forums" is clear as a bell.  Adding the phrase "a Time Out" is unfortunate.  Having HCV and getting treatment for HCV can, at times, feel like a demeaning and disempowering experience.  No need to add to that even if someone does step out of line.  We're all adults here.

My two cents, yo.  :)

All too funny ;D  Last night after I got home from work, I moved and cleaned under the couches, behind the dressers, under the bed and behind the TV.  Maybe the pantry and kitchen cabinets will happen this weekend.  Wonder if I will get to the attic before my 12 weeks are up?

Strangely enough, I did not think that I had little energy before.  Getting ready to go to my new exercise class Orangetheory, lots of fun then back to work.

First blood test next Tuesday, can't hardly wait.

My name is Per.
I am on a Harvoni treatment.
I am in my 9 week.
Doctor called me today regarding my 8 week test.
My blood is clean from Hep-c
Before treatment, over one milion.
After 2 weeks it was 250
After 4 weeks it was 25
After 8 weeks it was 0
And i still got over 20 tablets left.
I am very happy that i got this treatment and i think
That is the grace of GOD.
I thank JESUS and give HIM the honour.

Congratulations!  I just received my 6 week lab results yesterday and have the same good result and same reaction.  Stunned is exactly how I feel.  Stunned and grateful.

Well i had the expectation this would be a piece of cake. Headaches the whole way through. Every old broken bone, joint, sprain etc came back to haunt me to the point i had to get on pain meds lwhich i only take a 1/4 to 1/2 at a time to take the edge off, leg swelling. Im 10 yrs clean and sober and dont want to risk my sobriety plus the pills make me sick now. Fatigue, Nausea, fogginess. Arches denied me at first. got the biopsy and was stage 1 hep with 14 million viral load. stage 2 liver and my doc said insurance probably wouldnt ok but they did HOORAY. 9 pills left and feel a little better today. The specialty pharm called yesterday and want to ship me more pills i told them in done but they insisted and billed my card 5$ co pay so i called the doc to have him straighten it out. The pharm. want to give me 5 months and doc said 3 UGH. 32,000 a bottle. i messed up and didnt test til 3 weeks ago but in undetectable. i tried the peg interferon 10 years ago and made it 2 months before i quit. thought i was going to DIE ! plus i was still drinking and using im excited to get this done and over and cured and maybe feeling better all around. ive been packing hep since 1984 and diagnosed in 92

Hi Allen,

So 9 pills left in your third bottle?  Very strange that your specialty pharmacy would want to ship more medication than your doctor prescribed.

I hope you feel better soon.

Procrastination at its best

Hello
I'm so happy to have found this forum & I hope I'm responding in the correct way.  Great news on your results!!  I'm in my 7Th week of Harvoni & have just had my first visit with the nurse.  My blood work came back as detectable, not the best news but OK.  I've failed interferon in 1999 & interferon ribavirn combo sometime in 2000, so not surprised.  My side effects from the drug have been fatigue & headaches which have not been too bad.  The worst has been joint pain, mainly in my hips.  I was told by the nurse that the joint pain was uncommon, which led me to this site.  Thank you all for sharing your experiences!!

Hi Roberto,

Welcome.  You will find loads of support and information here.  As to you detectable status, was it nonquantitative detectable? or, much lower than before treatment?  These are important questions.  I is helpful if you post your stats and your length of treatment, that way everyone can help an give good advice.  I will tell you that there are some folks who are late bloomers and the great labs come a little down the road of treatment.  good luck.

Welcome Roberto!

Did your labs read "detectable <15" by any chance?

Anyway, strange deal about the joint pain.  I had that from long-term HCV infection, most noticeably in my hips.  Went away by week 2 or 3 on Harvoni treatment.

This is a new medication so I wouldn't be surprised if someone didn't chime in.  The side-effects of these new DAA's are varied, odd and thankfully mostly very mild.  That's one of the wonderful things about this forum - info exchange!  :)

Well Shoot, As to the call i got from the specialty pharmacy last week to ship more meds i told them im done and they said i have 2 more months for a total of 5. I talked to my doctor and they said they would straighten it out. Well i just got an e mail saying UPS will be delivering tomorrow. So i guess i need to call my doc in the morning to see i i should refuse delivery. The thought did occur to sell them on the black market lol . Sounds like luxury problem . My insurance arches had to drop 45,000 people in utah cuz the federal government didn't pay 12 million $$ to them so im looking at new insurance now. Im finally feeling decent i dont want 2 more months i dont need 2 more months

Else, TERRIFIC!!!

Beto - AMAZING!!!  As far as I'm concerned if you are UND at 6 weeks post, and liver function is normal and liver status as actually reversed it's fibrosis, you are pretty much home free.

Did you see Mel's post where his fibroscan came back like yours, with huge decrease in liver status?

I'm waiting for mine VL, should get tormorrow.  The LFT and all else came back normal so I think that's a good sign VL will too.  Except my platelets are low: 88 (they were low already and now even lower) but no one seems too concerned.  I just need to see the VL UND!
