Hep C side effects
« on: October 28, 2015, 08:34:23 am »
Hello I am starting my third month of  Harvoni.  I have had headaches,  itching,  exhaustion, joint/ muscles/ and bone aches, insomnia, inability to complete thoughts work and phrases, nausea, weight loss,  severe GERD.  I have tried taking meds in am and pm.  Having difficulty walking up and down stairs, diarrhea.   Hurts to get up from sitting positions.  This is hard,  I do it for my children.

I post,  looking for encouragement and additional support.   As a healthcare professional, this can be a very lonely disease (really as anyone)!

Very sorry to hear about all the side effects you are experiencing, Bblessed. Some people are affected much more dramatically than others by the sides.

Drinking plenty of water daily throughout treatment really does help with a lot of the sides, especially headaches. But it won't fix everything. I was drinking about a half gallon a day of water through my 12 weeks of Harvoni. Some days less. But I also drink tea and juice, which counts as well.

I lost weight and had appetite suppression throughout treatment. Smoothies can keep you nourished when it is hard to get other food down - blender drink with fruit, veggies, yogurt, banana, flax seeds, whatever you can toss in.

Insomnia is a tough one. Are you taking your Harvoni in mornings? If not, perhpas you could time-shift yourself to mornings for your pill.

I know it can be hard, but just stay focused on the end goal - ridding yourself of Hep C for good!

best,
kim
