Taking a Flu Shot while on Harvoni is it Wise?
« on: November 02, 2015, 04:23:31 am »

I myself passed on the flu shot this year like I have been doing for many years now I just figured that the flu shot deals with manipulating the immune system
[ http://radiomd.com/show/health-radio/mindful-medicine/item/24820-3-ways-to-stay-healthy-during-flu-season-without-the-flu-shot ]
and do not want to throw a monkey wrench into my 24 week treatment of harvoni that I am already almost 6 weeks into the treatment now.

I myself ran into a flu already and it was a bumpy ride;

I just added naturally squeezed lemon water in my fluid intake and sipped on some herbal tea daily and rid out the flu storm.

But, I did add elderberry sureau by natures way 2x2 capsules daily till I felt better. It did lessen the duration of my influenza outbreak by days. promotional link removed by moderator

Fresh air, sunlight and small walks does wonders for working out the lymphatic system. btw

Hi,

Eating healthy, very wise. Staying hydrated while being treated for Hep C, great advice! Taking a flu shot while on treatment, ask your medical professional. (It may be helpful to keep the flu away while in a weakened state.)

That article referred to the vaccine in 2014 that did not do a great job on the viral strains that year, but that is a rarity, and in most cases getting a flu shot is advisable, and harmless other than brief irritation.

Also, please make suggestions without posting links that might be considered commercial. The moderators will always review and remove commercial links and posts.

You are 1/4 finished with your treatment, how is your bloodwork and viral load? Get yourself cured!

Oh please! Clearly not a credible news story, no research, just anti-vaccination garbage.  This is not deserving of discussion by this board.  They also published: "Vaccines Linked to Autism – Preserve Medical Freedom: Dr. Paul Thomas, M.D."

Believe what you want to believe, but don't post garbage politically motivated 'medical' articles here.

This is a bit more credible: http://www.health.harvard.edu/blog/get-the-flu-vaccine-reduce-your-risk-of-death-201509158274

Please be more careful with what you post. I will ask the Moderator team to consider removing your link above, because it is clearly unscientific, and motivated with some nefarious purpose in mind.

thanx,
jack

No one should believe anything as gospel, but should rather make an informed judgment with the help of their medical professional.

However, the Harvard article cited things like facts... "If you are 65 or older, it (flu vaccination) lowers your risk of death by 48%"; as opposed to the link you posted which rather raised suspicions and made innuendo... "Can we really trust the health officials who are saying they are “rare” and encouraging everyone to receive the flu shot."

Let's leave this be...
