latest research on Harvoni not being released by Gilead?
« on: November 10, 2015, 10:11:36 am »
Just heard this from my gastro doc yesterday.  He was trying to convince me that 8 weeks Harvoni will be as effective as 12 - have read all the research and it sounds like the jury is still out on that count.  He said that he had read some more recent research that "Gilead was refusing to release" saying 8 weeks=12 weeks.  Anyone heard of this?

I just finished 8 weeks of harvoni. My insurance company denied me the additional 4 weeks stating that their analysis of the scientific findings support the 8 week treatment. They feel it  is sufficient for naïve 1a with VL under 6 million who responds quickly. My doctor said it lowers my cure rate by only 1 PERCENT.
after 20 days my first blood was undetected.  Now I have the waiting game,

Thanks for your response, Lin44.  Sounds like we're in the same boat.  I'm still waiting to hear about the final answer in the next couple of weeks.  I'm  und at 4 weeks, and will finish the 8th week on Thanksgiving Day.  I think I've gotten caught up in that 1% difference.  Just never want to go through this again.  Trying to stay grateful that I've had access to 8 weeks of this amazing drug.  Great news about you test results!!!!!!  sounds like you'll be joining the CURED group@!!!

Here is a link to a recent (last month) and very encouraging report on real world results for 8 weeks of Harvoni, evaluating a large group of German patients:
