Pain under the rbs, right side
« on: November 14, 2015, 03:49:08 am »
goodmorning!!
Since yesterday I have pain in the area where the liver or kidneys are. I started Harmoni 02-11-2015, so this is day 13.
Does anyone recognises this? Maybe it's a sign that te little orange ones are cleaning the  virus?
Sometimes I am a bit scared, the medicin is so new,ius it not damaging  but then I kick myself together because I know what I,m doing it for, but that is than in my dwelling mood.
Have a good day,
Greetz Madelief

The pain I get I believe to be post transplant scaring in the abdominal muscles below the ribs on the right side. The only pian issues I had before transplant were from ascites that got better after draining and diaretic treatment to help with fluid retention. Not much help in your case

Madelief, in your country, how do you contact a medical professional to get an answer to a question between appointments? If that is not easy to do, Harvoni's manufacturer, Gilead, does have "a 24/7 help line with nurses on call to provide answers and assistance" -- the web site is http://www.mysupportpath.com/help-along-the-way

Gnatty
9/29/71 transfusions
HCV genotype 1a
7/09/15-9/30/15 Harvoni

Before treatment:
Viral Load 9,490,582
FibroScan 19.5 kPa [F4]
ALT 262
AST 217
ALP 183

Most recent:
VL still UNDETECTED (SVR 102)
FibroScan 7.6 kPa [F1-2]
ALT 15
AST 20
ALP 85

You are now post treatment and cured I read? You must be so glad , lots of congratulations!!!
Is it so that when the virus is undetectable it is for always gone? Unless reinfection but I think that there is nobody here who will overcome this ...

Hi Madelief. Yes, As far as I know, when these new drugs eradicate the virus and we are delcared 'cured', the virus is truly gone from the body. This is a real cure and not just a remission of disease or a suppression of the virus within the body.

The drug manufacturers call SVR12 a cure (no virus detected 12 weeks after end of treatment). And I have reached that. However most doctors (including mine) still want to wait until SVR24 before declaring a patient cured.  99.8% of patients who achieve SVR12 are still virus free at SVR24. So SVR12 seems to be a reliable indicator for being cured. And in the future it may become the new standard among doctors.

Thank you Madelief! It is a really good feeling to know this thing is gone from my body after 45 years of living with it! You will be there soon too. :)
