Allergy shots
« on: January 15, 2016, 09:12:00 pm »

I started allergy shots about a month ago, after battling a terrible wheezing, cough for 2 months.   Cough (which i determined was "post nasal drip ((yuch!)))quickly subsided.
Not sure if this was a coincidence or not.   But I'll take it.

Anyway, went in today for allergy check up and "re-education"  (I'm not making this up).  I learned upon questioning, that  I should not administer shot if I have a fever or taking antibiotics because "we want your body to  be dedicated to fighting" the cold or whatever you have.

This got me thinking, perhaps I should not have started shots for while.  I am almost 16 weeks post EOT.   And now worry that my body is trying to to deal with too much.

I still have joint/bone pain and still have anxiety every day.  Think I might be depressed as well and wondering if the shots could be messing with my system.

Hate to quit em though as it takes days to build up to the proper doses,... in fact takes a year total.

Just wondering if anyone has thoughts or maybe information.   Would ask my doctors but gave up on them knowing anything re: HCV , a long time ago.

I guess I just have to find something to worry about! :o

Just want to start feeling normal again.

Our new hep c drugs are not in the class of drugs known as antibiotics.

"Antibiotics, also known as antibacterials, are types of medications that destroy or slow down the growth of bacteria."

Our meds are antivirals "an agent that kills a virus or that suppresses its ability to replicate and, hence, inhibits its capability to multiply and reproduce."

Your hep c meds were out of your system in a matter of days so really doing your allergy treatments should not be an issue.

Best to you and hpe you get rid of your runny nose

Thanks Lynn,

I do realize that the new meds are antivirals and not antibiotics.    I became concerned when the doc said that if I was sick , the body would need to focus all of its energy on getting well and not use energy dealing with the shot.  Which made me think , that perhaps my immune system was perhaps being over burden..... still in over drive from having do deal with hcv AND also having to deal with the shot.  Just a theory on my part and wondering if I should have waited a bit longer before starting allergy  shots.

Sure but even had you not been able to treat your hep c just now had the meds not been discovered yet you woul still have your allergies that you need to treat.

Or other medical needs can't be ignored just because we have or had hep c

Best to you :)
