Razors, tooth brushes, etc...
« on: February 23, 2016, 01:06:52 am »
I apologize if this question has been posed previously, but something just dawned on me while brushing my teeth before bed.
I am on my last few days of Harvoni and was never advised to stop using the toothbrush and or razor/s I used prior to beginning treatment.
If the HepC virus actually mutates when exposed to air...then are we inadvertently re-infecting ourselves by re-using razors and/or toothbrushes while on Harvoni?
My gastroenterologist is via a military post, so not exactly available, so just wondering if anyone has educated opinions...

There are educated opinions in Reply #4 and Reply #8 of this thread:
http://forums.hepmag.com/index.php?topic=3928.msg38833#msg38833
The rest of that thread (so far) consists of real-life experiences verifying that reinfection by toothbrush or razor would be extremely unlikely. Even those of us who had ready access to hepatologists weren't told to toss our toothbrushes and razors, although it feels good to do so "just in case."
