Treatment for Genotype 2a/2c
« on: February 24, 2016, 08:35:09 am »
Hi,

I just got my Genotype back and I am 2a/2c.  So apparently I am not a candidate for Harvoni.

I would love to hear from anyone else who is Genotype 2 also and if they have done any of the recent treatments and did it work and how did it go?

Thank you very much for any information.

I am still trying to navigate this forum and hope I am posting in the correct place.

Here is a link for the prescribing information for Sovaldi (sofosbuvir)
On page 24 it lists clinical trial results for GT 2 which was 95% SVR

There is additional data for gt2 from other trials but your odds are very good

And sof/dac is a great treatment that is easy to take with minimal side effects for most.

Unfortunately at this time daclinza (daclatasvir) would be an off label usage. Per the prescribing information sheet is is for genotype 1 and 3 only if course this likely will be revised at some point. But it does make it more difficult getting it approved by your insurance.

http://packageinserts.bms.com/pi/pi_daklinza.pdf

Also Sovaldi/Ribavirin was slightly more effective for GT 2 at 95 vs 92%

http://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/m/pubmed/24428467/

It looks like Sovaldi RIBA is preferred over sof/dac except if the patient is Ribavirin intolerant.

Good luck
