Harvoni - Dramatic elevated enzymes during first two weeks
« on: June 03, 2016, 05:40:29 am »
So firstly I am very thankful to be heading into my fourth week of Harvoni treatment.  A little scared here nevertheless.  My ATL and AST levels (113/106 pre-treatment on 5/4  to 154/471 tested on 5/19) shot up dramatically during my first and second week of treatment (158/373 on 5/27).  I am now scheduled to see my doctor this Tuesday and for an ultrasound the following week.   Was drinking water, juicing and taking a multivitamin along with anxiety med (Xanax) that the doc knew about.   I have just been experiencing some abdominal pain along with dry mouth, insomnia with a touch of brain fog.   So far I have quit the Xanax so very curious to see what my 4 week test will look like.   :o
Tested 3/14/2016 - HCV genotype 1a  - VL 30,671,000
Tested 5/4/2016 - ALT 113  AST 106
Started Harvoni TX 5/13/2016
Tested 5/20/2016 - ALT 154  AST 471
Tested 5/27/2016 - ALT 158  AST 373

The ALT isn't as troubling as the AST. Are you taking any herbs or dietary supplements? Any alcohol use? Were you taking Xanax before treatment? (Xanax can raise liver enzymes) Glad you have an upcoming appt. Although this is disconcerting, your liver enzymes can go into 5-digits and still be functioning - the liver is incredible. Mostly I wanted you to know that although this is high, the liver is very resilient.
