Harvoni and tamoxifen
« on: September 18, 2016, 11:03:05 pm »
So glad to have the support. I'm on day 3 of Harvoni. I also take tamoxifen and the specialty pharmacist said tamoxifen could intensify the effects of  harvoni.  I feel pretty good. Anyone else had this combination and how did you do? Thanks  #not so lilly white

Hi and welcome

I just checked a pretty good web page that lists many drug interactions for information about tamoxifen and Harvoni and the site does not show any known interactions

 https://www.drugs.com/interactions-check.php?drug_list=3567-16903,2145-3710

Of course that is a web site and not a trained pharmacist.

Have you tried calling the Harvoni support path? They should be a good source of information you could try them also.

Here's another site; a hep specific drug interaction site showing no interaction between the two:

LW, here's another reason not to worry. Even if the specialty pharmacist is correct that  Tamoxifen could intensify the effects of Harvoni, higher doses of Harvoni were given in early stages of the drug trials before they found how little could still be effective, so intensification shouldn't be a problem.
