liver transplant patient that took harvoni
« on: February 03, 2017, 02:32:21 pm »
hi, can you please tell me how you did with harvoni being a liver transplant ? I really don't know if I should start it because I don't have cirrosis of the liver, have a low viral load, but I do have stage 3 kidney disease. my doc wants me on 24 weeks with no ribavirin. Insurance will only do 12 weeks. so, he has no option but to ask me to take 12 weeks with ribavirin. I do not want to take that because of my kidneys. so, have any of you done treatment with just 12 weeks harvoni, no ribavirin and are post liver transplant?  I really would like to hear all of your stories if you had a liver transplant and where treated with harvoni.  thanks!

I don't think we have anyone here who had a transplant. I know on another forum a man named HectorSF who had a transplant after developing HCC. After his transplant he treated with Harvoni and was cured of hep c. But as far as I know he did not have kidney problems.

If you Google his name you should find many of his posts unfortunately he passed away last summer but he left a legacy of many wise answers. But I do believe your doctors likely are experts and they are best to answer your questions and concerns.

Two of the bloggers here have had transplants and have been treated: Karen Hoyt, and Matt Starr.
Both have blogs here, and elsewhere.

Maybe you could check them out?
